The Railway Carriage offers a unique opportunity to sleep in a skilfully created replica train carriage beside the West Somerset Railway line. The two-bedroom "cottage" sleeps four people in two bedrooms and is ideal for couples, families and friends, particularly those who appreciate the beauty of the vintage steam trains that puff along the track. Exmoor National Park and the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty are both nearby, and the welcoming Bicknoller Inn is less than a mile's walk from the door.
Somerset's beautiful landscape is spread before you, offering plenty of scope for walking, climbing, mountain biking, golf and horse riding. Staying in The Railway Carriage also means you are close to the gorgeous beaches of Somerset and North Devon, with miles of footpaths and cycling routes winding their way around the coast as well as vast stretches of shoreline for sunbathing, swimming and surfing.
The surrounding fields and farmland are not only lovely to look at but they also produce high-quality produce, particularly meat, cheese and cider. Stock up at a local farm store or farmer's market to enjoy a lazy barbecue or picnic, or treat yourself to a meal at a country pub or local restaurant, where seasonal menus showcase the regional produce in the most delicious ways.
There is plenty to see and do in the area regardless of your age or interests. In addition to a wealth of outdoor activities, there are historic gardens and buildings, castles, museums, and vibrant market towns. As well as the West Somerset Railway, nearby attractions include Dunster Castle, Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Tropiquaria and the Haynes Motor Museum. Bristol is an easy drive north on the M5, with museums, an award-winning zoo, shops, theatres and a quirky vibe all of its own.
The Railway Carriage is close to its sister property, Railway Cottage. Each property is private and independent but they can be booked together to sleep up to ten people. Please see the owner's website for more details.

The Railway Carriage has a traditional design with modern eco-friendly features to make it a comfortable holiday home with a 4-Star Gold award from Visit Britain. Accommodation is all on one level.
Outside: A covered verandah has a table and chairs for relaxed meals alfresco in view of the steam trains as they pass by. There is a level garden, outdoor hot tub and off-street parking.
Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, sheets and towels are included. A cot or toddler bed can be provided on request. One well behaved dog is welcome by prior arrangement. Smoking is not permitted.
