7 Queen's Square is a delight. The Grade II Listed stone cottage is one of the smartest residences on the square, offering lovely accommodation next to the church green. There is space for up to six people to sleep in three bedrooms, with guests enjoying an address within walking distance of the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale and friendly pubs like The Sun Inn and The Kings' Arms.
Kirkby Lonsdale is a pretty town with a long history. It is just over the border from the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and within easy reach of the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland, so there are lots of picturesque spots for visitors to discover and enjoy. St Mary's Church, with roots going back to the 12th Century, is only steps from the cottage, but you only have to wander down cobbled streets with names like Salt Pie Lane to get a sense of the town's history. A sight that should not be missed is the breathtaking panorama at Ruskin's View, overlooking the Lune Valley, Underley Hall and the River Lune. The medieval Devil's Bridge is also close by, along the route to the neighbouring village of Whittington and the perfect spot for a picnic.
In addition to the sights and attractions of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, a day out can include touring the South Lakeland Fells and Windermere, marvelling at the beauty of Ingleton Waterfalls, discovering a new world underground at White Scar Caves or wandering through the house and gardens at Leavens Hall.
The Yorkshire countryside is good for more than sightseeing. The farms in the area are responsible for delicious food and drink, many of which can be sampled in local cafes and restaurants or purchased at farmers' markets and delis.
Visitors to Kirkby Lonsdale are struck by its relaxed, friendly atmosphere and timeless charm. The natural beauty of the surrounding landscape coupled with the pretty buildings is a winning combination that appeals in every season.
