Whether you want a leisurely stroll along the banks of a river or an invigorating hike over wild moorlands, the 840 square miles of walks to explore in the Yorkshire Dales is sure to get those tails wagging! Visit the impressive waterfalls at Aysgarth Falls where you can explore the beautiful woodlands before enjoying a well-earned pint at the dog friendly Wheatsheaf. If you want to tackle a mountain, head to one of the Dales’ famous three peaks. The natural playground and dramatic rock formations at Brimham Rocks, near Nidderdale, is a perfect day out to keep the whole family entertained. Have a go at orienteering, pick up an explorer’s pack or unleash your creative skills with some wild art or leaf painting. Or simply stretch your legs as you explore the stunning moorland and find the perfect picnic spot. Combine history and the great outdoors at the 12th century priory at Bolton Abbey. Set within a 30,000 acre estate on the banks of the River Wharfe this is an idyllic spot to go fishing, build a sandcastle on the beach (yes it really does have a pop-up beach with pirate ship!) or embark on one of the adventure trails. On a warm day you can paddle in the river or tackle the 60 stepping stones to cross the water. Dogs will love the 80 miles of footpaths and there are even designated areas for them to run off their leads.
Alternatively, go back in time whilst learning about the fascinating history of Skipton Castle. Dogs are welcome to explore this well-preserved medieval fortress with you and you can take them for a walk afterwards in the beautiful Skipton Castle Woods. Green fingered enthusiasts should head to Parcevall Hall Gardens where you can enjoy 24 acres of enchanting gardens set on a steep hillside allowing you to enjoy the stunning views of the Dales. If you are after something a bit more exotic visit the Himalayan Garden and Sculpture Park. See how many of the 80 contemporary sculptures you can find as you take a gentle stroll with your dog (on-lead) through the 45 acres of stunning gardens and woodland.
