One of three luxury holiday lets which together make up “The Green”. Set in an idyllic location in Cumbria’s Eden Valley but within the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The Green is at the foot of the fantastic Howgill Fells, on the outskirts of the lovely village of Ravenstonedale with its excellent pubs and beautiful walks. Dog friendly and a wonderful location for families.
The Carthouse is Five Star rated and sleeps six guests in three bedrooms which can be made up as doubles or twins. Laid out over three levels with kitchen and living areas on the ground floor, two bedrooms on the first floor and a third bedroom on the third floor. There are two bathrooms including a ground floor wet room. There are also facilities for guests with limited mobility; please discuss your personal requirements with the owner.
Doors from the living area and kitchen open onto a private enclosed and relaxing outside garden space with external stone bike stores. Guests also have access to a beautiful beck side area where there is a BBQ, seating and tables.
Surrounded by the fells and farmland, the location is perfect for anyone who enjoys walking, cycling or simply relaxing amongst beautiful and tranquil surroundings where you can enjoy the views out to Green Bell, Wild Boar Fell, Nine Standards Rigg and Mallerstang Edge.
The driveway to the property leads directly out onto the fells, where you can have a gentle stroll along the side of Artlegarth Beck, walk across to Paradise Tarn or start a more serious days walking from your doorstep. There are many local interests and activities to enjoy such as a golf course in Ravenstonedale, tennis in the village and trout fishing at Bessy Beck Fishery. A little bit further afield you will find the many highlights of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. The village is just one mile away where you will find two excellent pubs and delicious takeaway pizza from a popular local chef. The market town of Kirkby Stephen is just a short drive and Kendal, Sedbergh and Penrith are also all within easy reach.
This area is a haven for wildlife and you will almost certainly see Red Squirrels which are now virtually non-existent in most parts of the country yet regular visitors to The Green. They are easy to watch and photograph as they take the hazelnuts from the feeders. It is also quite likely that you will see local fell ponies and birds such as buzzards, owls and curlews.
Standing in the grounds of the owners’ Victorian farmhouse, this beautiful stone barn was sympathetically converted by local craftsmen to provide a home away from home in beautiful surroundings. The Green consists of three properties, each completely self-contained. Fully refurbished in 2021, equipped to a very high standard and internally styled with a luxurious, yet rustic feel.
