The Carthouse is one of three luxurious cottages sitting within a large converted Victorian barn at The Green Cumbria. Set in an idyllic location in Cumbria’s Eden Valley just outside the picturesque village of Ravenstonedale.
The interior styling is outstanding, stylish and authentic; based on earthy natural colours that mirror the external surroundings.
The Carthouse sleeps six and is laid out over three levels with kitchen/diner and living area with woodburner on the ground floor, two bedrooms on the first floor and a third bedroom on the second floor. There are 2 bathrooms including a ground floor wet room. Doors from the living area and kitchen open onto a private enclosed and relaxing outside garden with furniture. Guests also have access to a beautiful beck side area where there is a BBQ, seating and tables.
The Carthouse is a truly welcoming space to unwind. For entertainment you’ll find a 50” Smart TV, WiFi, Amazon Alexa, JBL bluetooth speaker, games, maps and books. The fully equipped kitchen comes with lots of added extras so guests can make anything from tea and toast to a roast.
Other features and facilities include a fantastic App with lots of pre-arrival information, underfloor heating, bike storage, bath robes, stargazing kits and utility area.
Dogs are very welcome and are provided welcome treats, basket, bucket, sponge, shampoo, towel, outside tap and dog waste bin.
The village of Ravenstonedale is just one mile away with its two excellent pubs, children’s play area and tennis court. The market town of Kirkby Stephen is a short drive away where you will find pubs, supermarket and lots of interesting shops. The cottage is perfectly positioned to explore the highlights of the Eden Valley, Lake District and Yorkshire Dales and there is also plenty for children nearby such as Lowther Castle, outdoor swimming pools, Brockhole on Windermere and the Rheged Centre
The Carthouse is Five Star rated by Visit England and The Green Cumbria was runner up in the 2023 Cumbria Tourism Awards in the category of Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Business.
Week long breaks (seven nights) start on Fridays or Saturdays.
3 or 4 night short breaks are available outside of peak season. Please enquire if your preferred break isn't showing on our calendar.
Accessibility:
The ground floor of the property has been designed with facilities for guests with limited mobility including assisted wheelchair users. A ramp provides access to the front door and when inside the WC/wet room can be found on the ground floor. The WC on the ground floor is at a slightly raised height. All taps are lever style. We can provide a shower stool and add suction mounted grab rails in the bathrooms on request.
All bedrooms are accessed by stairs - stairs to the first floor have handrails on each side. Bedrooms and the living area have self closing fire doors.
Acoustically, the Carthouse has primarily hard floors, however soft furnishings and rugs soften the sounds for hearing aid users.
We can remove room fragrances and provide un-fragranced toiletries on request.
