About Whistle Stop Cottage

Whistle Stop Cottage is a lovely three-bedroom Norfolk holiday cottage waiting to welcome you and your family for your next self-catering holiday. Its name sounds like a place in a favourite childhood storybook, evoking the warmth and charm of an era when life was less hurried and straightforward pleasures were to be savoured. The property faces the village green in Aldborough, strolling distances from the excellent The Cricketers on the Green pub, a playground, and the village shop and only a short drive from Cromer and other beaches of the spectacular North Norfolk Coast. There is plenty of space for six people and two dogs, yet the size of the cottage is not too large that it is overwhelming for couples or smaller families.

Aldborough is a quintessential English village with a tranquil village green and duckpond at its heart. Although only a few miles from the coast, it escapes the summer crowds flocking to places like Cromer and Sheringham, retaining its peaceful appeal all year round. Aldborough's history dates back to the Vikings, who named it after the Danish village of Aldbjerg. The owner thoughtfully provides a welcome hamper so you can put the kettle on as soon as you arrive. The village shop sells essential items with any other groceries available in North Walsham and Aylsham, delivered by Tesco, Waitrose or Sainsburys.

Walkers and cyclists will appreciate having footpaths and waymarked cycling routes on the doorstep. The cottage has a lockable shed for guests who bring bikes, or you can hire them from National Trust Blickling Hall to explore the vast estate and gardens. Other country estates to visit include Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park. Keen gardeners should make a beeline for the beautiful award-winning gardens of Pensthorpe Natural Park. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, the fragrant fields of Norfolk Lavender are about an hour away, close to the royal estate of Sandringham.

Other nearby attractions include the breathtaking Norfolk Broads, historic Horsey Windpump, the Bure Valley Railway at Aylsham, Blakeney's colony of seals, Norwich's magnificent Norman castle and cathedral, Roarr! Dinosaur Adventure, and Wizard Maze in Metton. There's also Amazona Zoo, the Hilltop Outdoor Adventure Centre in Sheringham, Cromer Pier, beWILDERwood, and the Redwings Horse Sanctuary in Aylsham. You won't struggle to find ways to have fun during your stay at Whistle Stop Cottage. The opposite is true, and you may struggle to fit in everything you want to do!
