With so many different places to explore and the variety walking trails to tackle you will be spoilt for choice for things to do with your dog whilst on holiday in Norfolk. The vast stretch of sand which is backed by sand dunes and pine woods at Holkham Beach is a delight at any time of the year. Beaches at Old Hunstanton, Waxham and Horsey and Brancaster also allow dogs all year round. Other popular spots such as Cromer and Great Yarmouth have dog restrictions on the beach during the summer months but dogs are welcome from 30th September to 1st May. Dogs on leads are also welcome to explore the attractions on Cromer pier and promenade.
Away from the beaches and you will find miles and miles of walking trails. In the Norfolk Broads alone there are over 190 miles of footpaths to explore. Many boat hire companies also offer pet friendly trips with some even providing a life jacket for your four legged friends. The Bure Valley steam railway also welcomes dogs on board trains between Aylsham and Wroxham. A path runs along the line making it perfect for a combined walk and train ride day out. Dogs are welcome on leads at Burgh Castle, St Benet's Abbey and Fairhaven Woodland and Water Garden.
For a change of scene, Thetford Forest is a fantastic destination for dogs. Not only are there numerous trails of varying lengths and difficulties but you will also find a dog agility course near the Lynford Arboretum – perfect for honing your dogs skills!
