Violet Cottage is a classic Norfolk holiday cottage made from local brick and flint, sympathetically restored and extended to sleep four people in two very comfortable bedrooms. The owners live locally and manage every changeover to ensure the highest standards are maintained and that every guest, whether on two legs or four, immediately feels welcome. It's at the exclusive Old Dairy in Kelling, three miles from Holt and a stroll from a popular tea room and gallery. The cottage is also within walking distance (approximately 15-minutes) of the shingle beach at Kelling via off-road paths and 'The Quog', a small area of marsh and lakes where cows graze with good birdwatching. It's a fantastic holiday home for couples and families with children (7 years+), including guests with dogs. The village is surrounded by gorgeous countryside and is within easy reach of the beautiful North Norfolk coast and beaches like Weybourne and Salthouse.
Kelling is a wonderful base for exploring the gorgeous Norfolk coast and countryside. It's perfect for people who enjoy peace and privacy - the views from the cottage garden are idyllic - yet being so close to Holt means that every amenity you need is within a short drive, leisurely cycle, or an appetite-building walk. Holt is a pretty Georgian market town stuffed with fantastic places to eat, antique shops to browse, and a lovely 13th-Century church, as well as all of the essential amenities you'd expect from an established town. Follow the Holt Owl Trail to Holt Country Park - a favourite spot with locals and visitors for its 100 acres of woodland trails, picnic spots and playground.
There is so much to see and do when you stay at Violet Cottage that you'll struggle to fit everything into one stay. Salthouse is a peaceful shingle beach backed by marshes and a heath that forms part of the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve. It's a popular choice for birdwatchers, though anyone will appreciate the spectacular views from the coastal footpath. Weybourne is another picturesque shingle beach on Norfolk's Deep History Coast. It is next to Sheringham Park and has a station on the famous North Norfolk Railway Line that runs between Holt and Sheringham. Sheringham is a family-friendly sandy beach with Blue Flag status. Hire a beach hut and spend the day enjoying its seaside charms. Further afield, Cromer, Blakeney, and Wells-Next-the-Sea are also perfect for setting up your deckchair. If you can't resist a day in the city, then Norwich's medieval buildings, sights, and attractions are under an hour away.

Violet Cottage is one of eight private cottages on the exclusive Old Dairy Farm estate. It is built in the traditional Norfolk style, with the customary red pan-tiled roof and characteristic flint walls. Accommodation is over two levels.

Outside: Bi-fold doors open the sitting room up onto the patio letting the outside flood in, where there is a table and chairs for four people. There is also a pretty cottage garden with extra seating amongst the flowers. The cottage has allocated parking for one car, with extra parking available.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are included. Guests to provide beach towels if they are required. Guests over the age of 7 years only. One or two well-behaved dogs are welcome; a dog gate is provided at the bottom of the stairs. Smoking is not permitted. The cottage is heated with thermostatically-controlled electric radiators in all rooms to keep it cosy all year round.
