The Perch gives you the best of all worlds. This beautifully presented family holiday home is in the peaceful suburb of Bexley on the edge of the Kent countryside, yet conveniently linked to London via a short walk to a mainline train station. How fantastic to mix exciting days of shopping and sightseeing with relaxed rural excursions and lazy lunches in country pubs! There couldn't be a better location for keeping everyone happy, no matter what time of the year you're staying. The spacious 1930s property sleeps five people in three bedrooms and is suitable for families with children over 10 years.
Bexley is a wonderful place for a self-catering holiday in Kent. It's well-served by excellent amenities that include cafes, restaurants and shops, so it's ideal for people who enjoy cooking but who like the flexibility of dining out or picking up a takeaway at short notice. The cottage backs onto Bexley Woods, and the rear garden and dining room are lovely spots to sit and watch the antics of visiting birds and wildlife. Many guests find the best way to start their stay is with a leisurely walk through this ancient woodland, with more energetic visitors increasing the loop through Cray Meadows and Joyden's Woods. As you wander beneath the leafy canopy - something locals have done since Roman times - you'll be amazed to realise that London's busy city centre is barely 13 miles away.
Kent is packed with sights and attractions to tempt any interest. Local places to visit include the incredibly decorative and romantic Red House, home to William Morris in the 1860s, and magnificent Eltham Palace and Gardens. Hall Place and Danson House are also nearby, while Hever Castle is around half an hour's drive. Other historical places of interest include Charles Darwin's Down House and Chatham Maritime Docks. Once you've had your fill of the past, take the short drive to Bluewater, Thurrock Lakeside, or Westfield Stratford City for a day of shopping, or jump on the train to hit the upmarket boutiques of Regent Street. Trains from Bexley to London Cannon Street station take just over half an hour and run regularly until midnight, opening up not only London's world-class attractions but also its incredible theatres, live entertainment and nightlife.
Guests of The Perch love how much versatility the location gives them. It's possible to tailor your activities exactly to your tastes, whether it's fitting in a West End show or walking through woodland. Bookings are available all year round.
