The Treehouse Hideaway is your childhood dream of a secret retreat brought to life in the quiet village of Blean in the Kent countryside. Tucked away amongst the leaves, the unique property offers a sanctuary for one or two adults who want to put their cares aside and relax. The Treehouse is next to the Druidstone Wildlife Park, a short stroll from Blean Woods Nature Reserve. It is fully equipped for self-catering, but the friendly Royal Oak pub is close by for nights you do not want to cook. The Treehouse is the perfect spot to propose, celebrate an anniversary or to enjoy a romantic escape with your favourite person.
Blean is a wonderful choice for a holiday destination at any time of the year. The nature reserve has more than 100 miles of trails to explore. The ancient woodland is home to native species of trees and birds, and part of it is an RSPB reserve where you can walk and birdwatch. In addition to the Royal Oak pub and the woodland, Blean has a thriving village shop and a popular village hall hosting events throughout the year.
Kent is known as the Garden of England not only for the enormous scale and variety of its parks and gardens. Some of the more spectacular ones are at Sissinghurst, Leeds and Walmer Castles, but enthusiasts should also consider a visit to the charming Secret Gardens of Sandwich and the magnificent displays at Scotney Castle.
You may have already guessed, but Kent is not short of historic buildings. In addition to all of the castles mentioned, it is also the site of Canterbury Cathedral - the seat of the Anglican Church and one of the oldest cathedrals in Europe. Canterbury is only a few miles from The Treehouse and a fantastic spot for a day of sightseeing and shopping, or a special night out. Penshurst Place is another historic building and once Henry VIII's favourite hunting lodge, possibly to do with the appeal of nearby Hever Castle, which is where Anne Boleyn lived.
Day trips can include seeing the iconic white chalk cliffs that overlook the English Channel, walking or cycling along the North Downs Way, or a round of golf at the Royal St George's Golf Club. A calendar of events celebrate locally produced food, music, art and literature, including an annual festival dedicated to Charles Dickens. Whatever you love, you'll find it here.
The Treehouse is one of five unique and very special holiday rentals managed by the owner (please see their website for more information). With Canterbury being just 40-minutes from London St Pancras, you can leave your desk at the end of the day and be soothing your stresses away in the hot tub before the sun goes down!
