Holly Cottage Barn is located down a quiet country lane in the pretty village of Stelling Minnis in the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A well thought out barn conversion, located in the grounds of the owner's garden, this holiday cottage is surrounded by beautiful countryside. With one double bedroom and room for an extra friend or a child on the sofa bed, it is perfect for couples or small families looking for a self-catering getaway. Enjoy relaxed evenings cooking dinner and watching the amazing views and sun set from the bright and open living room, or treat yourselves to a meal out at the village pub which is just a short stroll away.
With 125 acres of Common Land, you don't need to stray far from Stelling Minnis to enjoy countryside walks or find a peaceful spot to while away the afternoon with a picnic. There is also a windmill in the village which runs tours and sells delicious cream teas on Sundays and a village shop to stock up on essentials.
When you feel ready to explore further afield there are plenty of day trips to choose from. Animal lovers can go on a safari at Port Lympne Reserve or visit Kent's original wildlife park at Howletts, whilst castle lovers will be spoilt for choice with the huge number of fantastic castles to explore. Dover Castle and Leeds Castle are perhaps the most well known, but you will find a number of fasinating historic buildings in Kent, not least Canterbury Cathedral, just a 15 minute drive away. You can combine a trip to the Cathedral with a day out at the shops and a leisurely lunch in one of the delicious eateries. Kent is also well known for it's spectacular gardens. Combine castles with gardens at the National Trust's Sissinghurst Castle. There should be enough in the 450 acre estate to keep the most keen green fingered enthusiasts happy!
If you are longing to see the sea you have the choice of several seaside resorts to choose from. Head north to the relaxed seaside town of Whitstable where there is a beach, harbour, castle and a thriving arts scene. Oyster lovers can also sample the famous Whitstable oysters! Just a little further along the coast is the vibrant town of Herne Bay which is perfect for a traditional bucket and spade day on the beach or to try your hand at a number of different watersports. Alternatively, head south to the coastal town of Folkestone with it's bustling Creative Quarter, or even enjoy a day trip to France from the white cliffs of Dover. There is so much to see and do in this pretty corner of Kent, but you might decide to simply enjoy the peace and quiet, stunning views and countryside walks surrounding Holly Cottage Barn.
