Situated high on the hills overlooking the lovely market town of Settle this is an area of the Yorkshire Dales that is a paradise for walkers. On offer is a stunning range of diverse walking routes that take you through breathtakingly beautiful landscapes including rugged hills, verdant valleys, stunning waterfalls and picturesque neighbouring villages. Walking routes can be short or last for miles but don't worry you can always soak away the aches and pains in the hot tub at the barn on your return.
Down in Settle there are shops, cafes and plenty of great places to eat or simply sit in front of an open fire and enjoy a pint or glass of wine in one of the many pubs.
Settle has its own swimming pool and an outdoor park for the children. Looming over the town square is Castleberg Rock where you can book climbing sessions. It is also the home of the UK's oldest surviving music hall 'Victoria Hall' which supports a wide programme of live music, theatre, comedy, film and an annual beer festival with many ales made locally. Every Tuesday you will find an outdoor market in the town square with local produce, collectibles and a host of other stalls.
Settle is famous for its fabulous railway that attracts many visitors to the area, the Settle to Carlisle Railway line is a stunning and romantic journey that winds over the immense Ribblehead Viaduct and through the rugged and breathtakingly beautiful landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines. This iconic railway is widely regarded as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world, and it's not hard to see why. The journey takes you past rolling hills, glistening rivers, and quaint villages, all while offering stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It's the perfect way to sit back, relax, and take in the romantic beauty of the North of England and there is a programme of steam trains that run the line too with engines like The Flying Scotsman and Sir Nigel Gresley making appearances.
The Barn has six bedrooms in the format below. On its doorstep are not only walking routes but great mountain biking routes. Close by there are Land Rover Experience Days at a nearby hotel and as well as the local pubs there are many take away restaurants to suit all tastes.
