This delightful self-catering holiday cottage sleeps up to four guests and is located in a lovely peaceful position just a one mile walk from the vibrant market town of Keswick. It is conveniently close to Derwentwater and the perfect base for exploring the many attractions of Cumbria's stunning Lake District National Park.
Osprey Cottage offers cosy comfortable holiday accommodation which is furnished to a high standard of comfort and style, whilst retaining much of its original character and charm. It also benefits from ample private parking, has secure bike storage and has a patio garden which is ideal for enjoying a glass of wine after an exciting day exploring the area. Located in Portinscale, the cottage an ideal 'starting point' position for some lovely local walks with something for all energy levels from an energetic hike up Skiddaw and Blencathra to a more sedate stroll to the marinas at Derwentwater to see the boats.
Keswick is just a ten minute walk from Derwentwater (Keswick's local lake) and is an attractive market town with much to offer located at the centre of the Northern Lakes. It makes an ideal base for exploring the spectacular scenery of the Lakes and beyond to Hadrian's wall or the Solway coast. What ever time of the year you visit, the tranquility of this stunning area can be enjoyed.
A good choice of attractions (both indoor and out) are on offer in and around Keswick with something to suit all ages. Most are available within just a twenty minute walk from the cottage including the Cumberland Pencil Museum where you can see the longest pencil in the world!; The Puzzling Place - a mind blowing exhibition of holograms and optical illusions; Keswick Brewing Company where you can take a tour and stock up on local ale; Fitz Park with a lovely play area and river; Hope Park where you can enjoy a coffee or a game of crazy golf with views over the mountains; The popular Theatre by the Lake; the Indoor Climbing Centre which is great for a rainy day and Derwentwater Launches for boat hire and lake cruises. For wildlife lovers, the surrounding area offers plenty of 'spotting' opportunities including red squirrel and Osprey (the only place in the country to see both rare species in the wild).

Additional information: There is a patio garden at the front of the cottage with garden furniture for relaxing. For those who want to bring bikes, a shed provides secure storage facilities and there is also off-road private parking for two cars. Linen is provided (please note that towels are not provided). Unfortunately pets can not be accepted and Osprey Cottage has a no-smoking policy. The holiday cottage is normally let on a weekly basis, however, some off-peak short winter breaks may be available so please enquire with the owner.
