The bright yellow front door, set against the pretty stone walls, makes you feel instantly welcome at Stable Cottage. Step inside and you will find a spacious lounge with comfortable sofas and a cosy multi fuel burner, a modern well-equipped kitchen and a practical sun room where you can leave all your coats and muddy boots! The gorgeous stone flagged patio is a lovely spot to enjoy a morning cup of tea as you decide what to do each day. With a generous king size room as well as a twin bedroom, this holiday cottage is perfect for families or couples looking for a peaceful self-catering getaway in a beautiful part of the world.
Stable Cottage is located in an enviable position in the traditional market town of Kirkby Stephen in the beautiful Upper Eden Valley. The mix of historic buildings, interesting shops and modern day conveniences makes this a great base for a self-catering holiday. Stock up on goodies at the shops or browse the galleries and antique stores. There is a lovely cloisters area in the centre of the town and you can admire the ancient collar of cobble-stones surrounding the market square or marvel at the 8th century Loki stone in the Parish church. If you fancy a break from cooking there are plenty of restaurants to choose from too.
The area surrounding Stable Cottage is fantastic walking and cycling country and it is no surprise that Kirkby Stephen is a 'Walkers are Welcome' town. You can enjoy anything from easy going valley routes and gentle river side strolls to hiking to the top of a mountain. If you are looking to enjoy some fantastic views, as well as being wowed by a magnificent viaduct, you should lace up your boots and tackle the four mile circular Viaduct Round. It starts just outside Kirkby Stephen at Stenkrith Park where the River Eden has created an impressive gorge.
For those who want to venture slightly further afield you will be spoilt for choice with a huge number of walks and bike rides in the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Lake District National Park. Not only are there moors, valleys, waterfalls and fells to explore but there are also plenty of pretty villages with lovely pubs and cafes to help you refuel after your days adventures.
Choose a different stunning location for each day of your holiday or simply enjoy the breathtaking views and unspoilt scenery on your doorstep.
