About Lake House Coniston

Lake House is a stunning property in a magical location. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Coniston from a prime location next to Coniston Water and beneath the shelter of Coniston Fells. The house has been updated and extended to offer a high standard of holiday accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms, with a layout that suits modern family life and makes the most of the incredible Lake District views.

Coniston is the perfect place for a holiday in the Lake District. The majestic landscape changes daily - if not hourly - depending on the weather and the position of the sun. Waking up to spectacular views will have you lacing up your hiking boots and tucking into a full Cumbrian breakfast to fuel your walk to the peak of the Old Man of Coniston or around the lake's perimeter. Mountain biking is another favourite activity, particularly on the purpose-built trails in Grizedale Forest, and there are some exhilarating fell running loops that start in or pass through Coniston.

Those who prefer more relaxing pastimes can visit attractions such as the Ruskin Museum. Take a trip on the National Trust Steam Yacht Gondola which offers a hop-on-hop-off ticket to places like Monk Coniston, where you can walk to Tarn Hows. The Lakeland Motor Museum is at Holker Hall and has a replica of one of the Bluebird craft in which Donald Campbell broke the water speed record on Coniston Water in 1955. He is buried in Coniston cemetery and there is also a memorial to him on Coniston green.

Coniston village has a friendly community which is welcoming to visitors who will find shops, cafes, and the excellent Black Bull pub which has its own microbrewery. Grasmere is about 10 miles away, as is Windermere. Coniston and the surrounding area inspired some of the Swallows & Amazons story and you'll be inspired to create your own adventure - whatever that looks like to you.

Lake House is part of the Lanehead property, which dates from 1840 and hosts training events, retreats workshops. However, the cottage is entirely private and self-contained, and not overlooked by the main house.

Accommodation Comprises:

Lake House is a welcoming property with lovely proportions and accommodation over two levels.

  • Spacious sitting room with three two-seater sofas, a fireplace with a log burning stove, and a TV. Relax with a good book or throw open the curtains and admire the far-reaching views. Multi-aspect windows ensures the room gets lots of natural light all day long, while the glass French doors provide direct access to the terrace.
  • Huge kitchen/diner with white cabinets and furniture that bounces the light around so that it is always bright and welcoming. There is plenty of workspace to prepare meals, and the kitchen is very well-equipped with everything you'll need to cook and serve family suppers, including a dishwasher.

  • Climb the stairs from the hallway to the first-floor landing off which lead three bedrooms and a family bathroom.
  • Master bedroom with a kingsize bed, multi-aspect windows with amazing views, and a modern ensuite with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
  • Twin bedroom with two full-sized single beds, a bedside table with a reading light, and a dressing table and chair.
  • Third room with single bunk beds and a chest of drawers for storage. The room is best suited to children or young teenagers but the bunks are full-sized and can accommodate adults if required.
  • Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, a WC and a handbasin.

Outside: The appeal of Lake House continues outside. The enclosed private garden has a terrace with a table and chairs for six people, mature plants and breathtaking views over Coniston Water to the fells. There is off-street parking for two cars.
