Lake House is a stunning property in a magical location. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Coniston from a prime location next to Coniston Water and beneath the shelter of Coniston Fells. The house has been updated and extended to offer a high standard of holiday accommodation for up to six people in three bedrooms, with a layout that suits modern family life and makes the most of the incredible Lake District views.
Coniston is the perfect place for a holiday in the Lake District. The majestic landscape changes daily - if not hourly - depending on the weather and the position of the sun. Waking up to spectacular views will have you lacing up your hiking boots and tucking into a full Cumbrian breakfast to fuel your walk to the peak of the Old Man of Coniston or around the lake's perimeter. Mountain biking is another favourite activity, particularly on the purpose-built trails in Grizedale Forest, and there are some exhilarating fell running loops that start in or pass through Coniston.
Those who prefer more relaxing pastimes can visit attractions such as the Ruskin Museum. Take a trip on the National Trust Steam Yacht Gondola which offers a hop-on-hop-off ticket to places like Monk Coniston, where you can walk to Tarn Hows. The Lakeland Motor Museum is at Holker Hall and has a replica of one of the Bluebird craft in which Donald Campbell broke the water speed record on Coniston Water in 1955. He is buried in Coniston cemetery and there is also a memorial to him on Coniston green.
Coniston village has a friendly community which is welcoming to visitors who will find shops, cafes, and the excellent Black Bull pub which has its own microbrewery. Grasmere is about 10 miles away, as is Windermere. Coniston and the surrounding area inspired some of the Swallows & Amazons story and you'll be inspired to create your own adventure - whatever that looks like to you.
Lake House is part of the Lanehead property, which dates from 1840 and hosts training events, retreats workshops. However, the cottage is entirely private and self-contained, and not overlooked by the main house.
