No 1, The Old Garage Apartments is in Selside, right on the border of the Lake District National Park. Despite being a mere six-minute drive from the vibrant market town of Kendal, Selside avoids the crowds and bustle that can affect some of the busier Lake District tourist hot-spots. Staying here puts you conveniently close to some of the best parts of the National Park yet far enough that you can enjoy the space and tranquillity you crave. The one-bedroom dog-friendly apartment has been furnished with couples in mind but is also welcoming and homely for solo travellers.
Selside is perched 700 feet above sea level and enjoys incredible panoramic views from its elevated location. Guests have direct access not only to fantastic walks but also exciting mountain bike routes including one that goes between Grizedale Forest and High Nibthwaite. Shap Summit is a short drive from the property, though many guests prefer to walk. The climb to the top may take your breath away but, fortunately, so will the views which overlook the fells and Morecambe Bay.
With the Lake District National Park to the west and the Yorkshire Dales National Park to the east of the apartment, you have an enormous natural playground in which to keep busy. Every outdoor sport you can imagine is available somewhere around here, where the fun isn't restricted to the surface because this region is known for its extensive system of caves.
You can drive to Kendal in just over five minutes from the apartment, with an excellent variety of shops, pubs and cafes, as well as a cinema, climbing centre, and the Museum of Lakeland Life and Industry. Local attractions include Lowther Castle, Pooley Bridge, Ullswater and the Ullswater Steamers, Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall, and Holker Hall. We've only listed a handful of places to visit as there are dozens within easy reach to provide something for every season.

Outside: The apartment is set back from the road behind a barred wooden gate. There is allocated off-street parking out the front. The garden is mainly lawn and enclosed by a low stone wall.
Additional Information: Utilities, WiFi, bed linen and towels are all included. Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome with the owner's agreement at no extra cost. Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
