The single-storey dwelling is only a few minutes' stroll from the centre of Ambleside, where you will find shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a cinema, and other attractions. The entire house has a lovely light atmosphere, with the owner using a colour palette of dusky shades to reflect the natural beauty of your surroundings. Sleeping six people in three bedrooms with a sheltered sunny garden, secure storage for bicycles and a large games room, it is perfect for families who want the familiar comforts of home in a welcoming and convenient place to explore the beautiful fells and lakes of the national park.
Ambleside is the ideal place for a self-catering Lake District holiday. Not only does it have all the shops you need for groceries, but it also has a wide choice of places to dine out or take food away if you don't want to cook after a full day on the water or the mountains. Your cottage is just over a mile from the northern shore of Windermere and even closer to where the Rothay and Brathay merge on their way to the largest lake in England. The Rothay is popular for paddleboarding and canoeing, and being so close to Windermere gives you access to a whole host of watersports.
You can't visit the Lake District without following at least one of its footpaths or accessible trails. Whether you're climbing a mountain, enjoying the challenge of fell running, or using one of the level scenic routes around the perimeter of the lake, there is a path for everyone. Loughrigg, Fairfield, and Wansfell are all within walking distance of Cat-Owl Cottage. The famous sight of Stock Ghyll Force is less than a mile away, and you're also close to Grasmere, Rydal, and Coniston. Further afield are Keswick, Kendal, Go Ape, Grizedale Forest, and attractions like Holehird Gardens and The World of Beatrix Potter. It's easy to see why the Lakes are a favourite holiday destination in any season.
