Walden Studio sleeps two guests in comfort (or three adults, possibly four if including children with use of the sofa bed) and is conveniently located on the edge of the eclectic town of Stroud. Within just a few minutes walk you have a Waitrose as well as Stroud town centre and train station with cafe's, restaurants, pubs and shops. The cosy annex to a larger property sitting in a quiet residential street, Walden Studio is private and self-contained, and is well suited to couples and singles to use as a base for walking holidays or touring the Cotswolds.
The Commons are within walking distance from Walden Studio and provide a wonderful spot to enjoy the stunning far reaching views over the Cotswolds and towards the Severn Estuary and Wales beyond. One of the country's most beautiful common lands managed by the National Trust, horses and cattle can be seen roaming freely, and the grassland slopes are home to wildflowers (including thirteen species of orchid) and rare butterfly. The Commons villages of Minchinhampton, Box and Amberley provide local award winning combinations of fine dining and real ale pubs and there are more restaurants and inns dotted across the Commons. Winstone's Ice Cream Factory Shop near The Bear at Rodborough provides a convenient place to stop for a refreshing treat on a hot summer's day whilst taking in the wonderful views over the Golden Valley.
The Cotswolds has an abundance of attractions and day trips out. Just a few of the more 'unique' ones that can be found locally or within thirty minutes by car include: local canal restoration, history in the making; Bibury's ancient picturesque Arlington Row which dates as far back as 1380 and was noted for being 'the Cotswolds most beautiful village' by William Morris; take a trial flight in a glider, an adventurous way to take in the stunning local views; The Neolithic burial ground of Uley Long Barrow (known locally as 'Hetty Pegler's Tump') and the Severn Bore, a 'spectacular natural phenomena' to name just a few.
Walden Studio provides a perfect base for visits throughout the region including the Roman City of Bath and spa town of Cheltenham, historic Gloucester, Cirencester, Oxford, Bristol and Stratford-upon-Avon, to name just a few. There are a wealth of places to visit and cultural activities, including the National Westonbirt Arboretum and Slimbridge Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, along with diverse shopping opportunities from specialist boutiques and designer outlet to world class antiques.
There are also plenty of pretty villages and historic towns to visit, providing a great selection of places to eat. This wonderful area has something for everyone.
