About Shepherds View at Oaks Barn Farm

Shepherds View at Oaks Barn Farm with optional hot spa combines robust eco-friendly principles with stylish accommodation, in a unique and surprisingly spacious package. Sleeping up to six guests in three bedrooms which are spread out across two adjacent shepherds lodges separated only by a decking area, this welcoming holiday retreat provides guests with everything needed to relax and unwind (including the use of an option salt water hot tub at an additional charge).

Sitting in a beautiful rural location just ten minutes from historic Stratford-Upon-Avon, and two miles from the popular Bulls Head Inn at Inkberrow, this welcoming holiday home is an excellent base for exploring Central England. The ancient town of Stratford-Upon-Avon is one of those “must see” places. Treat yourself to a production at the Royal Shakespeare Company or get up early to see the house in Henley Street where Shakespeare was born, or New Place where he lived for many years. You can then avoid the crowds with a short drive to Mary Arden’s farm, the birthplace of Shakespeare’s mother, or enjoy a day at the stunning National Trust's Charlecote Park. Other activities include visiting the Stratford Butterfly Farm, boating on the river, or simply browsing the independent shops and tea rooms.

Of course, there is more to Warwickshire than Stratford-Upon-Avon. Once you have exhausted the myriad of shops, Shakespeare attractions (including Guild Hall, where he went to school) and places to eat and drink, you can head to the rolling Cotswold countryside. Explore the numerous footpaths and cycling trails nearby or take a small-group day tour with Go Cotswolds, whose expert guides will show you the highlights of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Alcester is a lively Roman town with a regular market on the last Sunday of the month. Warwick Castle is a fantastic day out for everyone and Worcester is also within easy reach, as are the sleepy villages and historic towns of the Cotswolds. There are at least a dozen golf courses within a 15-mile radius of Oaks Barn Farm, and the NEC and National Indoor Arena are easily reachable by car.

Stratford-Upon-Avon is not only beautiful, but it is also easy to reach from many parts of the country. At Oaks Barn Farm you and your family can stay in comfort as you discover the many fantastic attractions in and around the area.

Location (Warwickshire)

Shepherds View provides self catering with a little quirkiness and a lot of style and comfort. With space for six people, Shepherds view offers more space than you would expect and provides a flexible layout with a good degree of privacy that makes it perfect for couples, families or friends.

Sitting on a small working farm, the owners are close at hand should you need any information about the local area. There is always something going on at the farm (especially during lambing) and guests are more than welcome to get involved should they wish.

Oaks Barn Farm's green credentials are well established, and the owners continue to look for ways to be carbon neutral, whilst offering a high standard of comfort. Shepherds View is heated using Biomass fuel from renewable resources. Water efficient showers and cisterns reduce wastage, much of the energy comes from solar panels, and food waste is composted and used on the owner's vegetable garden.

Accommodation Comprises:

Both lodges are separated by a decking area and there is WiFi and central heating throughout.

Main Lodge

  • Open-plan living area with space to cook, dine and relax. The kitchen is equipped with electric oven, two-ring ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, a good complement of utensils and cooking equipment, and granite worktops. Comfy seating allows you to relax in front of the wall-mounted television with Freeview channels and a dining table which seats six guests.
  • Two flexible bedrooms with king-size beds that can be unzipped and made up as two singles by arrangement..
  • Shower room with large walk-in shower, WC and wash basin.

Adjacent Lodge

  • Double bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, WC and wash basin. The flexible layout of the two lodges provides a good degree of privacy and makes it particularly popular with couples and extended families bringing the grandparents away.

Outside: An enclosed garden with outdoor furniture and BBQ (charcoal) allows guests to make the most of long summer evenings and the fantastic countryside views towards the Malvern Hills. A salt water hot tub is available for use as an optional extra and perfect for relaxing. There is a shared children's play area with swings and a slide. Oaks Barn Farm is a small working farm and guests can meet the animals and even feed the lambs depending on the time of year. Secure off-road parking.

Additional information: The owners are able to do a service wash for a nominal charge should you need items laundered whilst away. All utilities, linen and towels are included. Shepherds View is non-smoking. The owners can arrange bike hire and air-rifle shooting. Shepherds View is not wheelchair accessible but the owners other property (The Granary) is well suited to those with limited mobility, as it is all on one level and has doorways wide enough to enable wheelchair access. Should you want use of the hot tub during your stay, an additional charge of £150 is applied to cover the cost of it being emptied, cleaned and refilled (this will cover general usage electricity which should suffice providing the cover is replaced after each use and jets turned off). Guests can charge electric cars on-site via a centrally accessible point charged by solar panels, making the most of green energy.
