This lovely little stone cottage sleeps two to four guests (with the use of a sofa bed) and has been converted from a building that was once used to house a previous owner's pony (and trap), into what is now a welcoming detached holiday cottage, sitting on the border of the owner's garden.
Stable Cottage offers comfy accommodation and sits amongst the Evenlode Valley in Chadlington village in the county of Oxfordshire. Nestling amidst an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty', the cottage is only minutes from Wychwood Forest and is a superb place for dicovering the many hidden treasures of this quiet little corner of the Cotswolds. Yet it is still within easy reach of the busier tourist hotspots such as the historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, the pretty village of Bibury, picturesque Bourton-on-the-Water (known as the 'Little Venice of the Cotswolds'), Burford, bustling Chipping Norton, Woodstock (home of Blenheim Palace and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill) and Witney.
Chadlington Village itself offers everything you may need. The Tite Inn is a lovely 17th Century pub with a warm welcome, well known for its excellent cuisine, excellent draught ales and lovely views from the sunny gardens. For those who want to cook in, the local butchers in the village (Slatters) has an excellent reputation and Cafe de la Post is a village shop selling newspapers, breakfasts, lunches and afternoon teas.
There are an abundance of great days out and attractions within easy reach of Stable Cottage. Cheltenham with its superb shopping and racecourse, Oxford's "dreaming spires" and Warwick's magnificent medieval castle are all within driving distance. Stratford upon Avon is also great for a day trip out. Famed for being Shakespeare's birthplace, Stratford offers fine dining, great shopping, riverside walks and a busy calendar of productions at the Shakespeare Theatre.
For those who want something a little more sedate, purchase a fishing license from the local shop and enjoy a relaxing day fishing on the Evenlode River just one mile away. There are a network of footpaths from the village with tracks and trails just waiting to be explored.
Other day trips out and attractions within an hour by car: Cotswold Wildlife Park at Burford; the country park at Broadway Tower; Birdland Park and Gardens at Bourton-on-the-Water; Burford Garden Centre; the Cotswold Farm Park at Guiting Power and the picturesque village of Bibury with its trout farm.
