The beautiful National Trust village of Lacock is within easy reach and popular with 'setjetters' being used as the filmset for movies such as Pride and Prejudice and Hogwarts in two of the Harry Potter films. For those who like walking in the footsteps of the famous, Castle Coombe is another 'must visit' destination and a picturesque village which was used in the filming of War Horse and Dr Dolittle. Tetbury is a thriving market town with an excellent range of shops, restaurants and pubs. It attracts antique hunters from around the world, is home to Highgrove (the residence of King Charles), and is an architectural treasure with its magnificent market hall and the Elizabethan gem of Chavenage House (used in the filming of Poldark). For garden enthusiasts, Westonbirt National Arboretum is closeby (a short drive through the country lanes from Lantern House) and a must with one of the most impressive collections of trees worldwide (magnificent in the Autumn and Spring).
Slightly further afield but still within easy reach by car is the ancient City of Bath steeped in history (30-minutes away) and Bristol city centre.
