The Old Chapel is a period holiday cottage on the Oxford side of the Cotswolds. Converted from a beautifully restored 19th Century chapel, it sleeps five people in three bedrooms. It is spacious enough for families but not overwhelmingly large that couples can't also feel at home. It's in the charming village of Cleveley, set back from a quiet country lane overlooking fields and countryside. It's just over a mile from the Harrow Inn and The Crown Inn in Enstone and within a short drive of Chipping Norton.
The Cotswolds have long been a favourite holiday destination. Close enough to London for a weekend retreat yet rural enough that you feel as if you're genuinely escaping the rat-face, this area is a glorious mix of English countryside, picturesque market towns, scenic villages, and appealing attractions. Cleveley is as pretty as a picture, with historic honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings and footpaths, including the long-distance Shakespeare Way, going through and around the village. Cycling is also popular, and bicycle hire is available nearby in Banbury and Chipping Norton.
There's a village shop in Church Enstone for any essentials, and many guests take advantage of the Wednesday market in Chipping Norton to buy fresh local vegetables, cheese and meat directly from the producers. Great Tew, Woodstock, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold, and Burford are all within a short drive. Burton-on-the-Water and Stratford-Upon-Avon are just over half an hour away, while Bicester Designer Shopping Outlet and Oxford, both half an hour's drive, offer even more places to shop, eat and drink. Local attractions include magnificent Blenheim Palace, Cotswold Wildlife Park, Soho Farmhouse, Rollright Stones, and the Hook Norton Brewery. There are historic houses and gorgeous gardens, local museums and scenic picnic spots.
Come for the views, for the summer fetes and the Christmas markets, for the superb restaurants and relaxing spas - whatever your reason for visiting the Cotswolds, The Old Chapel will greet you with a warm welcome.
