Old Manor Holiday Cottages are located in the small Gloucestershire village of Twyning, near Tewkesbury on the western side of the Cotswolds. Stable Cottage (sleeps four) and The Old Hay Barn (sleeps up to three) provide an ideal base from which to explore The Cotswolds, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, Malverns, Hereford and Worcester. Available for short breaks and longer holidays all year round, the cottages provide flexible self-catering accommodation for couples and friends wanting to explore the areas many attractions. Flexible start dates are available all year for holidays and short breaks.
Set in the grounds of The Old Manor, dating back to the 16th century, the cottages are personally run and managed by the owners Nick and Sue Lambert. Their smallholding is home to Buff Orpington Chickens and a small flock of Ryeland Sheep which you will see wandering the grounds.
Twyning's history dates as far back as medieval times and today it still displays examples of old black and white wooden frame buildings. The cottages are just a five minute stroll from the village green where you will find The Village Inn and two minutes further on, a riverside pub on the banks of the River Avon, The Fleet At Twyning - both serving food.
There are plenty of public footpaths around the village allowing you to explore the surrounding countryside and take in the lovely views of the Cotswolds, Malverns and Bredon Hill. A particularly nice walk from the village is the picturesque riverside walk along the River Avon into the very heart of Tewkesbury - a gentle stroll taking approximately one hour along the river bank where you can admire the passing holiday cruisers, sailing boats and narrow boats. You can also access the The Severn Way from Twyning which takes you to Tewkesbury.
Tewkesbury is a historic town with its impressive Tewkesbury Abbey providing a beautiful backdrop. Its medieval street scene and network of some thirty ancient alleyways make it a pleasure to browse. The River Avon meets the River Severn at the very heart of the town and there are riverside walks, historic mill buildings, boat trips and water meadows to enjoy. Tewkesbury also offers a great choice of shops including traditional butchers, bakers, green grocers, a couple of supermarkets, delicatessens, boutiques and antique shops, along with plenty of pubs and eating establishments.
The local area to Twyning is a haven for wildlife and offers plenty of outdoor activities including fishing, horse riding, eighteen hole golf course and a health spa for those wanting to relax - all within walking distance of the cottages.
