Garden Cottage is quite simply sublime. The owners have taken a 400-year-old Cotswold cottage and created a luxurious haven where up to six people can enjoy a superb standard of holiday accommodation in the highly desirable Cotswold village of Broad Campden. The layout of the three-bedroom cottage is ideal for families or friends and is only a five-minute walk from the excellent Baker's Arms pub.
Broad Campden is a beautiful place to stay for a self-catering holiday in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although it is close to some of the best sights and attractions in the area, the rural idyll is away from the popular tourist trail, so feels lovely and peaceful. Wandering around the village is a gentle joy, with its honey-coloured stone buildings, thatched cottages, and the Quaker meeting house which dates from the 1600s and is the oldest in the country.
The excellent footpaths and picturesque views make the Cotswolds a favourite place for long walks through the countryside. The long-distance Cotswold Way, a 102-mile route, is easily accessible from nearby Chipping Campden. The walk to Chipping Campden is just over a mile and an easy half an hour's walk, and there is a circular route of around 9 miles from the village to Broadway. Cycling is another excellent way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape. Visitors can arrange for bike hire and guided tours through local businesses.
Chipping Campden offers an excellent array of places to eat, drink and shop and is the most photographed town in the Cotswolds. More of a large village than a town, Chipping Campden oozes historic charm with its honey coloured buildings and ancient market hall. It is also home to Hidecote Manor National Trust Gardens on the outskirts of the town. Both Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold are about nine miles away from Garden Cottage, while the very photogenic Upper and Lower Slaughters and Bourton-on-the-Water are too within easy reach by car. Those who fancy a day at the races or browsing boutiques are only 20 miles from Cheltenham, while Cirencester's famous polo club is less than an hour's drive.
Garden Cottage is everything you could wish for in your dream Cotswold Cottage. Not only have the owners provided indulgent touches throughout but they can also make your holiday extra memorable by helping to arrange activities like clay pigeon shooting, wine tasting or spa days; and help organise special touches like champagne, a hamper or a cake.
Whether you are celebrating a milestone occasion or purely want a few nights of luxury, Garden Cottage is the perfect choice.
