About Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage is quite simply sublime. The owners have taken a 400-year-old Cotswold cottage and created a luxurious haven where up to six people can enjoy a superb standard of holiday accommodation in the highly desirable Cotswold village of Broad Campden. The layout of the three-bedroom cottage is ideal for families or friends and is only a five-minute walk from the excellent Baker's Arms pub.

Broad Campden is a beautiful place to stay for a self-catering holiday in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Although it is close to some of the best sights and attractions in the area, the rural idyll is away from the popular tourist trail, so feels lovely and peaceful. Wandering around the village is a gentle joy, with its honey-coloured stone buildings, thatched cottages, and the Quaker meeting house which dates from the 1600s and is the oldest in the country.

The excellent footpaths and picturesque views make the Cotswolds a favourite place for long walks through the countryside. The long-distance Cotswold Way, a 102-mile route, is easily accessible from nearby Chipping Campden. The walk to Chipping Campden is just over a mile and an easy half an hour's walk, and there is a circular route of around 9 miles from the village to Broadway. Cycling is another excellent way to immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape. Visitors can arrange for bike hire and guided tours through local businesses.

Chipping Campden offers an excellent array of places to eat, drink and shop and is the most photographed town in the Cotswolds. More of a large village than a town, Chipping Campden oozes historic charm with its honey coloured buildings and ancient market hall. It is also home to Hidecote Manor National Trust Gardens on the outskirts of the town. Both Broadway and Stow-on-the-Wold are about nine miles away from Garden Cottage, while the very photogenic Upper and Lower Slaughters and Bourton-on-the-Water are too within easy reach by car. Those who fancy a day at the races or browsing boutiques are only 20 miles from Cheltenham, while Cirencester's famous polo club is less than an hour's drive.

Garden Cottage is everything you could wish for in your dream Cotswold Cottage. Not only have the owners provided indulgent touches throughout but they can also make your holiday extra memorable by helping to arrange activities like clay pigeon shooting, wine tasting or spa days; and help organise special touches like champagne, a hamper or a cake.

Whether you are celebrating a milestone occasion or purely want a few nights of luxury, Garden Cottage is the perfect choice.

Location (The Cotswolds)

Accommodation Comprises:

Garden Cottage is a period property with original features that include oak beams, flagstone floors and an inglenook fireplace. The owners have sympathetically restored and beautifully presented the cottage to make it stylish and luxurious throughout, ensuring it is perfect for discerning guests while still retaining the period character that makes it feel so wonderfully welcoming.

Ground floor:

  • Entrance hall which leads off to the living room and a cloakroom with WC and sink. A handy place to hang coats and leave shoes/boots.
  • Returning to the comfort of the triple aspect living room each evening will be a delight. The L-shaped sofa has ample room for four+ people (plus there is a pouffe and chair) to settle back with their favourite tipple and watch the large-screen Smart TV whilst enjoying the warmth from the log burner which takes pride of place in the original inglenook fireplace. An initial supply of logs and kindling is included and the owner can arrange for a top-up supply required. There is an Alexa on the ground floor as well as upstairs in each bedroom controlling the lighting (with manual over-ride).
  • Dining room at the heart of the cottage with access to the kitchen, sitting room and garden room. There is a solid wood table and plush upholstered chairs, along with a designer sideboard providing useful storage (a highchair is available for younger diners). Whether you are chatting about the days adventures over supper or enjoying a special celebratory meal, the dining room is the perfect place. It also has a large Smart TV.
  • Sleek worktops, solid beams and a butler's sink are just three of many features that make the kitchen so pleasant for cooks. The owner's provide an initial supply of tea, coffee, milk, sugar and other essentials. Appliances include a microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher.
  • Entry from the rear is through the back door into a small utility room (which leads off into the kitchen) with a washer/dryer.

First floor:

  • Guests can expect the same superb standard of accommodation upstairs, with all of the bedrooms having a Smart TV, Alexa and use of the cottage's Cat 5, High Speed Broadband. The beds are made up for guests' arrival and adorned with hotel-quality bedding and linen to ensure a restful nights sleep.
  • Master bedroom with a flexible bed that will be made up as a king but can also be two singles by prior arrangement, dual-aspect windows with garden views, bedside tables with reading lights, and a triple wardrobe and chest of drawers for storage.
  • Second king-size bedroom which also offers flexible sleeping with the option to be made up as two singles by arrangement, bedside tables and proper storage. A chest of drawers and free-standing wardrobe provide ample clothes storage and this bedroom has nice views over the garden.
  • Contemporary bathroom with a shower over the bath, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin.

Second floor:

  • Third flexible bedroom with two single beds that can be zipped together to form a king. With sloping ceilings adding to the charm this room looks out over the garden and countryside beyond and has a chest of drawers for clothes storage with more available in the wardrobe on the spacious landing.
  • Shower room with heated towel rail and hand basin.

Outside: The spacious garden is private and enclosed, with a table and eight chairs where guests can dine alfresco. The drive has parking for up to five cars.

Additional Information: WiFi (Cat 5 High-speed Broadband), utilities, high quality bed linen and towels are all included, together with a basket of fuel and kindling for the log burner. Smoking and pets are not permitted.
