Bower Bank EcoBarn sits amongst pure natural beauty in the peaceful hamlet of Gawthrop in the valley of Dentdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Surrounded by trees, farmland and wildlife, it is hard not to fall in love with this tranquil and enchanting holiday home. The owners have taken great care to be as kind to the environment as possible whilst renovating this special barn. It is insulted with fleece, heated by a ground source heat pump and the toilets are flushed by rainwater. The energy is 100% renewable and most of the furniture has been refurbished and upcycled, including the fantastic church pews in the kitchen. Sleeping eight guests in three bedrooms, it is perfect for groups of friends looking to recharge and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The fantastic open plan kitchen, dining and living area is perfect for cooking and socialising (there is even a piano), but if you prefer a night off cooking you can head to one of the two popular pubs in the village of Dent just one mile away. Dent is everything you could wish for in a traditional Dales village. With quaint cobbled streets lined with pretty cottages, the village attracts holiday makers and walkers from far and wide and is a popular choice for a holiday at any time of the year. Surrounded by glorious undulating Cumbrian countryside there are miles of fabulous footpaths criss-crossing the landscape for walkers and country lanes and cycle routes like the Pennine Cycleway for cyclists, along with plenty of attractions if you fancy giving your legs a day off. You can also fish on the River Dee or enjoy riverside walks along the banks.
Visit the Heritage Centre in the centre of Dent to find out about local life or experience it first hand over a pint in one of the pubs. Step back in time and hop onboard the famous Carlisle to Settle Railway from Dent station - a truly nostalgic and memorable trip that passes over the magnificent Ribblehead viaduct. Alternatively, just relax over coffee and cake (or a glass of wine!) at Meadowside Cafe and watch the locals coming and going.
Many visit Dent to simply relax and stay put, enjoying all it has to offer, whilst others want to discover the many attractions of the surrounding area. Sitting in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, there are endless opportunities for day trips out but if that is not enough, the Lake District National Park is only fifteen miles away and within easy reach by car.
Bower Bank EcoBarn offers all the right ingredients for a either a relaxing holiday or an organised retreat. Spend your days walking, cycling, horse riding or wild swimming, or simply soak up the peace and stillness of this beautiful corner of Yorkshire.

Bower Bank EcoBarn has been converted into a fantastic holiday home which is presented to a high standard whilst retaining many wonderful features and embracing eco-friendly principles.
Accommodation comprises:
if you're a party of two ~ booking within the discounted rate, you have a choice of bedroom set ups and access to one bathroom and one separate toilet - for groups over 2, you have access to two bathrooms and one separate toilet.
Outside: There is a wooded garden to the rear of the barn and a paved sitting area with stunning views at the front. This is a lovely spot to watch the sun rise or enjoy an early yoga or mediation session. The woodland garden has an abundance of wildlife including kestrels, rabbits and even red deer if you rise early enough!
Additional information: Bed linen, towels, heating, electricity and a starter pack of logs are included. Off-road parking is available for up to three vehicles. Sadly due to the nature of the barn we're unable to accommodate children under 12, lively parties, stag or hen parties. We can accommodate one well behaved non moulting dog by arrangement and with agreements in place. We can also accommodate children over 12 by arrangement and with agreements in place. If your group has a dog or children, you must advise at time of booking. Fibre optic super fast broadband/WiFi is included in the price. Short breaks available with a 3 night minimum, high season minimum nights vary of up to 7 nights. The price shown is for two people. For groups over two, please enquire with the owner.
