Llechwedd Isaf is a welcoming self-catering holiday cottage in Snowdonia, sleeping five people in three bedrooms. It's nice and relaxed - perfect for families who aren't fussed about fancy finishes but who will appreciate the quiet location and beautiful views of mountains, countryside and glimpses of the sea on a fine day. If you are looking for a holiday home that is warm and comfortable with excellent opportunities for walking, mountain biking, fishing, bird watching, and other outdoor pursuits, the village of Cwm Teigl is for you. Likewise, people who want to switch off and unplug will love it as there is no WiFi and no 4G. Instead, you'll be dazzled by the brilliance of the night skies and woken gently by the sound of bleating sheep in nearby fields. It's a rural idyll that is waiting for you.
Cwm Teigl is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it small place, so quiet, you will see more sheep than people. What it lacks in stature, it more than compensates with spectacular views and superb trails for exploring. The name translates as Teigl valley, as the River Teigl (Afon Teigl) flows through the village. Being at the foot of Manod Mawr means you can walk out the cottage door and up the mountain. Alternatively, follow in the footsteps of centuries of walkers to Llan Ffestiniog, beside the Afon Gamallt and Hafod Ysbyty to Betws-y-Coed before returning Cwm Teigl. The circular route is only around 3.5 miles, but you'll want to take your time to appreciate the views along the way.
Ffestiniog is only a mile away and close enough to walk or cycle. There are more amenities in Blaenau Ffestiniog, often called just "Stiniog" by locals. It's a thriving town in the Moelwynion mountain range where you can pick up groceries, stop by a cafe or pub, or enjoy dining out instead of cooking. The businesses here are mostly locally owned and run, catering exceptionally well for visitors all year round.
There are many ways to have fun when you stay at Llechwedd Isaf. As well as walking on and around mountains, you can fly fish in the rivers, go downhill mountain biking at Antur Stiniog, take the Zip World Llechwedd deep mine tour, or set your adrenaline soaring at Zip World Slate Caverns. Enjoy a gentle guided walk in the company of alpacas or go to the other extreme with an exhilarating canyoning and rappelling tour. Snowdon and the Snowdon Mountain Railway are less than 20 miles away, while Surf Snowdonia is not much further.
Llechwedd Isaf is an affordable option for holidays all year round. Spacious enough for families, it's not too big that couples would feel overwhelmed. Please go to the website to book https://llechveddisaf.fwscart.com/.
