Tudor Cottage is set in 18 acres of amazing grounds with a hilltop sauna with amazing views! Private lake with log cabin, 2 kayaks and a rowing boat; a 7 hole Frisbee golf course, games room and other fantastic facilities. The cottage is in an enviable position, sitting at over 1000 feet, with uninterrupted views for over 30 miles of spectacular scenery.
Although secluded and peaceful, the cottage is easily accessible from the A5 via a tarmac lane. It is centrally situated for exploring the Snowdonia National Park and the fantastic attractions North Wales has to offer: Snowdon, Cader Idris; Zipworld and Betws-y-Coed are all easily within an hour. The unique village of Portmeirion and Harlech Castle on the west coast are both well worth a visit and only 50 minutes away.
We only have Tudor Cottage and The Granary onsite, so it's nice and quiet with no children running around and you won’t exactly be queuing up to use any of the outside facilities! The cottages are completely separate from each other and very private with their own gardens and parking spaces. Guests are also very welcome to explore all the land around the cottage, including the lake, where you can swim or dive off the diving jetty (deepest point is twelve foot), or paddle around in the two kayaks or the rowing boat. We also have a log cabin down there if you just want to chill and relax.
We have a really good Guidebook App now and I will email and text you a link to this when you book. Within the immediate area there are some beautiful walks from the front door, including a climb up to the Bronzed Aged hill fort, which is the view from the cottage itself and a large network of footpaths for both long and short walks.
Bala is a fascinating town that is just fifteen minutes away by car with its narrow gauge lakeside steam railway and famous lake providing numerous activities including white water rafting, sailing, swimming, wind-surfing, fishing, mountain bike hire, riding and canoeing. The town has two supermarkets where you can stock up on provisions, many independent shops and plenty of good pubs, restaurants and takeaways.
The local pub/restaurant (The Goat) to the cottages is under ten minutes by car and offers a good atmosphere and a warm welcome. They also do great takeaway meals if you want to retreat back to the cottage. Our top recommendations for eating out are the award winning Abul’s Spice and Old Wives Tales in Bala. There is also a local garage/shop within a ten minute drive.
Tudor Cottage is a real ‘home from home’ and fully up to date with a Smart TV; Sonos Speakers so you can listen to your own music via Spotify or Apple music and good mobile phone reception for all networks.
Workstation with desk, chair, lamp and 4g broadband, for those who need to work. We can also offer longer stay discounts for anyone wanting to try out ‘country living’ before making a permanent move or have already sold their property.
