The Ship Inn proves that bigger is indeed better when it comes to holidays with extended family and friends. The spacious holiday home was once a lively Victorian pub and still has warm Welsh hospitality embedded in its DNA. The owners have done a fantastic job refurbishing and modernising the building to provide comfortable, relaxed accommodation for up to 34 people in 11 bedrooms within strolling distance of the soft white sands of Colwyn Bay as well as shops, cafes and friendly pubs like The Crafty Fox and the Red Lion.
Colwyn Bay is the ideal spot for a lazy holiday with family and friends. It is at its busiest in summer, when families descend on the beach with their windbreaks and beach towels, keen to swim, canoe, sail and surf. The Ship Inn is just east of Colwyn's main beach, near Old Colwyn, where the water is excellent for water sports and rock fishing. It is calm enough to swim, although the nearest stretch of sand with a lifeguard is a five-minute walk away at Colwyn's main beach. The Victorians loved staying at Colwyn Bay for their seaside holiday, building the 3-mile seafront promenade and making sure the town had plenty of places to eat, drink and shop - amenities that remain to support both locals and visitors today.
Local attractions include the Welsh Mountain Zoo, the Fairy Glen Nature Reserve, and the newest addition to the town, the contemporary Eiras Events Centre. Take a walk through Pwllycrochan Woods, cycle to Great Orme, go jetskiing or play golf. The Snowdonia National Park is just a few miles away with the Snowdon Mountain Railway being around a 30-minute drive from the cottage.
The Ship Inn has everything groups need for a fun holiday, including a location that is perfect at any time of the year. Excellent road links make it easy to reach from both the east and the west, so you can plan a holiday with far-flung family and friends to celebrate Christmas or a milestone birthday, or just to catch up.
