Cadwaladr is the latest creation behind Huge Holiday Homes. Sleeping up to thirty guests, Cadwaladr is the first of four proposed units to the rear of the original Welsh Manor and perfect for a holiday with your friends or extended family. With 12 beautiful ensuite bedrooms, Cadwaladr enjoys a peaceful rural location less than a mile from the centre of the historic town of Caernarfon close to the Snowdonia National Park. Cadwaladr is well-equipped for a self-catering holiday though there's a friendly local pub, The Newborough Arms, a 15-minute walk away.
For a small town, Caernarfon makes a big statement thanks to its incredible castle. The fortress, built by King Edward I and one of the finest of its kind in the world, is protected as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Edward wasn't the first ruler to recognise the strategic value of this harbour town. The Romans built a hilltop fort called Segontium, the foundations of which remain today. An excellent way to orientate yourself is with a walk around Caernarfon's medieval town walls which are virtually unchanged since construction. In contrast to the town's ancient stone walls is the redeveloped waterfront facing the Menai Strait, which is now a sleek marina.
Local attractions include the Welsh Highland Railway that runs between Caernarfon and the harbour town of Porthmadog, the Snowdon Mountain Railway that has been delivering day-trippers to Snowdon's peak for over a century, and Gypsy Wood Park. Anglesey is a short drive away over the Menai Strait, and Beddgelert and Beddgelert Forest are also close. Dog-lovers can take a detour to see the grave of Gelert, Llewellyn the Great's loyal dog who was immortalised in Welsh legend.
There is plenty to keep everyone happily occupied during a stay at Cadwaladr. Cyclists have an excellent choice of road loops and mountain bike trails, including the traffic-free Lôn Eifion cycle path. Tarmac along the entire 16 miles between Caernarfon and Brynicir makes it suitable for all seasons, and walkers and joggers can also use it. An alternative walking route is the Caernarfon Circular Coastal Walk that is part of the long-distance Llyn Coastal Path.
Caernarfon is a picturesque and lively town with lots to offer visitors at any time of the year. Cadwaladr is conveniently close to the town's excellent amenities while providing visitors with peace and privacy.
