Moelwyn View Cottage provides the ideal holiday get away. It is located on the edge of Llan Ffestiniog, a quiet village sitting in an elevated position above the Dwyryd Estuary. Due to its central location you are within easy reach of all the major tourist attractions within Snowdonia National Park. This stone cottage is full of character and was renovated by the owner in 2019. It is a lovely place to return to at the end of day, providing cosy holiday accommodation for couples, a small family or friends. Conveniently located within walking distance is the local pub ‘Y Pengwern’ and Ffestiniog village shop. There are two bedrooms, a wood-burning stove and stunning views of the Moelwynion Mountain range and the Manod Hills. A rear garden with a seating out area means you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine while admiring the view. The garden is secure with a gate leading to an access road behind.
There are walks and bike rides directly from the village and within a few miles some great swimming spots. A long distance walking trail called the ‘Snowdonia Slate Trail’ passes the front door of the cottage, so a section of it can be walked in either direction. Other local walks from the village go to beauty spots such as the Cynfal Falls. Three miles away, in Blaenau Ffestiniog is the mountain bike centre of Antur Stiniog with more trails at Coed-y-Brenin, Penmachno Forest and the Marin trail near Betws y Coed. The cottage is also in a fantastic location for the coast, as only a 20 minute drive from the beaches of Harlech and Porthmadog. Porthmadog has the famous ‘Cob’ and is also home to the Welsh Highland Railway. Within easy reach as a day trip is the Llyn Peninsula, Barmouth, Aberdyfi or Caernarfon castle. A ride on the Ffestiniog or Welsh Highland steam train and a visit to the Italian themed village of Portmeirion are often rated as trip highlights.
Blaenau Ffestiniog is the nearest town for food shopping. It has great amenities for visitors and is home to the Llechwedd Slate Quarry, Zip World, Bounce Below and the Ffestiniog Railway. Beddgelert and Porthmadog are a short drive away and both offer more shopping and eating out opportunities. There are some excellent pubs a few miles from the cottage.
The owner of this holiday accommodation has worked hard to create a cosy space where guests can relax and feel at home. If you are searching for a peaceful holiday with numerous options to indulge in outdoor activities, or simply want to relax and explore Snowdonia National Park, you'll find Moelwyn View Cottage the ideal base.
