The Lombard is a huge holiday home in the Snowdonia National Park town of Dolgellau. This area is a year-round favourite with walkers and mountain bikers, who love the beautiful scenery and excellent amenities the town provides. Shops, cafes and pubs like Yr Unicorn are all within walking distance, and the community has a reputation for the quality of its live music. The Lombard has a flexible layout and can sleep up to 45 people in 17 comfortable bedrooms, making it perfect for holidays with your extended family and friends.
Dolgellau (pronounced Doll-geth-lie) is a lively town beside the Mawddach River (Afon Mawddach) at the foot of Cadir Idris. It is a magnet for outdoor enthusiasts who come to climb, mountain bike, fish and generally make the most of the spectacular landscape. There is a footpath to suit everyone whether you want a challenging hike to the peak of Snowdon, a hair raising black run at Coed-y-Brenin mountain bike park, or a gentle walk or cycle along the mostly traffic-free Mawddach Trail. The scenery in North Wales, and in Snowdonia National Park in particular, is utterly breathtaking however you choose to view it.
Visitors who prefer to enjoy the mountains from a distance will also find plenty to appreciate about Dolgellau. As with many communities in North Wales, the Welsh language is widely spoken although all residents are bi-lingual so listening to the dialect is a pleasure rather than a barrier. There is an excellent variety of cafes, pubs and restaurants, many of which serve a seasonal menu that makes the most of fresh regional produce. Visitors there on the third Sunday of the month should make an effort to get to the monthly farmers' market where they can buy directly from the producers and artisans.
Local attractions include the Snowdon Mountain Railway, the underground trampolines at Bounce Below and the hair-raising lines at Zip World, Barmouth Beach and dolphin watching in Cardigan Bay.
The space and facilities at The Lombard are ideal for big groups of friends celebrating a milestone birthday, extended families gathering for Christmas, or simply getting everyone together in one place because it's been a while.

To safeguard our housekeepers and reduce risk to subsequent guests we also respectfully request that clients ensure that ALL rubbish is removed to the outside bins and ask you to please strip back your own beds. We trust you understand the logic behind these common sense measures and the slightly more spartan approach during these cautious times.
