The Old Rectory is a beautiful property in a gorgeous location on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. The house sits quietly, surrounded by rolling countryside and within easy reach of beaches along both Cardigan Bay and Porth Nefyn, and only a short drive from the Snowdonia National Park. There are two separate self-catering properties available for guests at The Old Rectory. The Cottage is a nicely presented self-contained wing of the "Big House" that sleeps up to four people in two bedrooms and is ideal for couples, families or friends. The Lodge is a three-bedroom holiday rental with space for up to six people and a flexible layout that makes it perfect for friends and family.
The Llyn Peninsula is stunning. The narrow stretch of land juts out off the west coast of Wales, facing the Atlantic Sea to the north and Cardigan Bay to the south, with beautiful sandy beaches all along its coast. The sometimes gusty breeze from the Atlantic makes the rugged northern coast a favourite for surfing, windsurfing, kiteboarding and other water sports. In contrast, the southern beaches that face the more gentle waters of Cardigan Bay are typically perfect for swimming. The Llyn Coastal Path links all of the beaches and provides sweeping views as well as the opportunity to spot sea birds and, on the south coast, dolphins and seals.
The Old Rectory is in the centre of the Llyn Peninsula, and both north and south coasts are only about a three-mile drive away. Guests can choose a beach to suit the weather and their mood. Beaches to go to include the National Trust owned Llanbedrog Beach which is ideal for lazy days with a picnic as it is sheltered by Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd headland. Hell's Mouth has consistently favourable conditions for surfing, while Porth Ysgo frequently has people climbing over its boulders and up the rocky cliff-face. Take a walk along Morfa Nefyn to blow away the cobwebs, taking refreshments at the friendly Ty Coch pub along the way, or spend a sunny day swimming and sailing at Pwllheli.
Some attractions close to The Old Rectory are Criccieth Castle, Pwllheli Marina, the Nefyn & District Golf Club, and the ancient fishing village of Porthdinallen. Porthmadog and Portmeirion are within a 30-minute drive from the cottage, while Caernarfon is not much further. The Snowdonia National Park is also on the doorstep, with the base of Wales' highest peak under an hour by car.
The Cottage is available for hire all year round. See the owner's website for more details and to check availability.
