Little Bothy sleeps two and is a lovely peaceful place in which to retreat from the world whilst having easy connections to all that you might need to comfortably manage your holiday. Easily accessible by road, with a fabulous pub/restaurant and plentiful shops for supplies all within a flat short walk. Its gardens and small orchard surrounded by fields, provide a pretty and peaceful place in which to while away a few hours, reading, picnicking or simply doing nothing. Nestling alongside Lyme Cottage where the owner lives, Little Bothy is easily accessible for Tenbury Wells, Ludlow and the market town of Leominster. It sits close to the River Teme in Shropshire so well placed for visiting the lovely counties of not only Shropshire but also Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
Both Lyme Cottage and the Little Bothy have an interesting history and after sympathetic restoration, still have many lovely original features. Situated in the old part of Burford village, the cottage dates back to 1867 when it used to be the District nurse's house, with the adjoining cottage having been the local Police House. Over past years, the original Little Bothy has had many uses but speculation has it that it may originally have been a place in which the nurse treated her patients. The Bothy was extended in 2012 to become the delightful little holiday cottage that it is today.
Visitors to the Little Bothy are able to walk to many local attractions, including the historic St Mary’s Church in Burford and its neighbour Burford House Gardens where there is a restaurant, interiors shop, garden centre and historic clematis gardens.
The small ancient market town of Tenbury Wells is just a flat half mile walk away and provides an abundance of eating establishments, individual shops and good retailers to purchase local food. There are also lovely walks alongside the river and a swimming pool.
For fine dining and shops (including those selling antiques), Leominster and the foodie heaven of Ludlow are just a fifteen-minute drive, and Berrington Hall and Croft Castle (National Trust) are too easily accessible - all with busy events and festival calendars.
Short breaks (2 night minimum) and flexible arrival days offered all year round
