Buttercups Hay Barn has five bedrooms to sleep up to 10 guests in 4-Star comfort. The period Georgian barn has been lovingly restored and renovated to offer a high standard of self-catering accommodation in beautiful rural Shropshire. With the charming market town of Whitchurch on your door step which is filled with artisan, shops, cafes & restaurants. Shrewsbury, Chester & Nantwich are close by. For families there is Chester Zoo, Bewilderwood, Hawkstone Follies, Park Hall Farm, The Crocky Trail & the Aqua Water Park at Alderford lake to name but a few. You are also within easy reach of three UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Iron Bridge Gorge. It's everything you want for a holiday with family and friends.
Everything you need for a fantastic holiday is on the doorstep, starting with the superb facilities that include an indoor heated swimming pool, toddler playground, multi-purpose sports court, wildlife area and woodland picnic spot. The long-distance Shropshire Way footpath passes through the farm, and you don't have to go far to get to the Llangollen Canal. Offa's Dyke, the Whitchurch Wheel, and the Sandstone Trail are just three more beautiful footpaths you can use to explore south Shropshire and the picturesque Welsh Borders.
Be sure to add at least one of these three places to your itinerary. The Ironbridge Gorge showcases a time when local mines literally fuelled the Industrial Revolution. The bridge was a world-first when constructed in 1779, and looks as impressive today as it did at its official opening nearly 250 years ago. Liverpool is about an hour's drive from the barn, with lots of places to eat, drink and shop as well as the historic Maritime Mercantile City district that was once one of the world's busiest ports. Over the border in Wales is the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, an impressive feat of engineering that takes boats from the Llangollen Canal to the River Dee.
Local attractions include the Roman ruins at Wroxeter, the Grade I listed house and gorgeous gardens at Attingham Park, and the elegant redbrick Erddig Hall. There are museums and galleries, golf courses, cycling routes and mountain bike trails, and even a rally car track close by. Slightly further afield but still near enough for a day out are Chester Zoo and Alton Towers.
