Buttercups and Hayloft is a combination of two self-catering properties at Alkington Grange Barns, offering accommodation and dining for 16 guests. With the accommodation being spread between the two cottages, Buttercups sleeping 10 guests and 2 infants and Hayloft sleeping 6 guests and 2 infants but with Buttercups offering comfortable dining for all 16 guests in a gorgeous setting with stunning rural views.
With wonderful on site facilities include a swimming pool, sports area, and a special play area for toddlers., BBQ's, Woodland Picnic site, Bike Store & Bird Watching and Star Gazing areas. The location is scenic and rural, with easy access to beautiful walks and bike rides. It's the perfect choice for families, extended families and friends to spend time together or to hold a celebration.
Whitchurch, is a charming local market town which is less than 2 miles away and offers artisan shops, cafes, bars and restaurants - two of which are Michelin starred- the town is lovely to explore and has a wonderful Antiques Emporium, with some hidden treasures, to add to your day. There is a thriving Farmers Market on the 1st Saturday of each month - not to be missed!
There are lots of extras available for your group to do locally, from Doodle Alley (located in Whitchurch) that offers relaxing & fun Pottery Parties for all ages and abilities, to a local Chef that can cook for you on site, or a lady who offers Buffets and Afternoon Teas, we can also offer Pamper Sessions delivered right to your door!
There are an array of local family attractions close by including, Chester Zoo, Bewilderwood, Park Hall Farm, Hawkstone Follies, The Crocky Trail and Cheshire Ice Cream farm. National Trust properties such as Erddig Hall, Attingham Park, and the Roman ruins at Wroxeter are also local. The Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford and the Secret Nuclear Bunker at Hack Green will both appeal to military buffs. Chester Zoo and Alton Towers are slightly further afield but still within reach for a fun day out, as is the historic city of Liverpool. There are three UNESCO World Heritage Sites within an hour's drive of Alkington Grange Barns, so plan a visit to Ironbridge Gorge, Liverpool's Maritime Mercantile City, or the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal. Other places for a day trip include Shrewsbury with its incredible Prison & Castle, Chester with its Roman Walls and Amphitheatre, Whittington Castle and Beeston Castle.
When we say there are great walks from the door, we're not lying. The long-distance Shropshire Way passes through the farm's property on its 200-mile route, linking places that include Shrewsbury, Bishop's Castle, Ludlow, Iron-Bridge, Wellington and Much Wenlock. Just down the road is the Llangollen Canal which you can hop on and walk or cycle to Whitchurch and Grindley Brook, four miles north of the farm.
Buttercups and Hayloft offers comfortable accommodation, a wonderful dining space, great facilities and beautiful Shropshire Countryside, surrounded by great venues and local attractions, what more do you need for a break away with family & friends!

Buttercups Accommodation Comprises:
Buttercups has been skilfully converted into a welcoming holiday property with accommodation over two levels. It has views of the farmland and countryside and is close to the (fenced) wildlife pond.
Downstairs:
Gorgeous open-plan living area with multi-aspect windows framing rural views and keeping the room light and welcoming all day long. Glazed French doors open to the garden and patio. There is lots of comfortable seating and a 50-inch TV with Freeview channels, and a DVD/Blu-Ray player.
Following on from the living room, the dining space is another light-filled area with beautiful views. The solid wood table has 16 matching chairs, and highchairs are also available.
Fitted kitchen with high-quality appliances that include an American-style fridge-freezer, an electric range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The cupboards are stocked with crockery, glassware and cooking equipment.
Cloakroom with a WC and a handbasin.
Upstairs:
The upper level is separated into two halves with separate staircases from the ground floor. The layout works really well if two families are on holiday together in the barn, but is also good for friends. Both sides are the same with three bedrooms and a bathroom.
•Two "master bedrooms" with a double bed, bedside tables with reading lights, and ensuites with a shower, WC and a handbasin.
•Two single bedrooms with a full-sized single bed and beautiful views over the farm and countryside.

Outside: Buttercups has an enclosed patio at the front and the rear, and a seating area with garden furniture. There is private parking for up to four cars. Guests also have use of the shared grounds and facilities.
Additional Information: Two travel cots (no bedding), stairgates and highchairs are available on request. Pets are not permitted in Buttercups Hay Barn but there are two pet-friendly properties on site. All utilities, WiFi, sheets and bath towels are provided. Short breaks are possible outside of peak season, depending on availability. No smoking indoors.
Hayloft Accommodation Comprises:
Williams' Hayloft is a gorgeous period property that has been finished and furnished to a high standard. Accommodation over two levels.
Ground Floor:
Welcoming hallway with original beams, a beautifully crafted oak-staircase and an open plan layout that leads to the sitting room.
The layout ensures the sitting room is a lovely place to relax all year round. It has two three-seater sofas, a woodburning stove and a TV with a DVD and a Blu-Ray player.
Kitchen/diner with an electric oven and stove, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. The cupboards are well-stocked with all of the crockery, utensils and equipment necessary to cook and serve family meals. A wooden dining table seats six people, and a highchair is available in the cottage.
Upstairs:
•Master bedroom with a king-size bed, bedside tables and reading lights with view of the countryside. An ensuite with a shower over bath, heated towel rail, WC and a handbasin. The bedrooms have high ceilings and exposed beams.
•Second bedroom with a wonderful hand built wooden Bunk Beds.
•Double bedroom with bedside tables & reading lights and a beautiful picturesque round window.
•Family bathroom with a shower over the bath, heated towels rail, WC and a handbasin.
Outside: Williams' Hayloft has an enclosed garden with a level area of lawn a gravelled space with an outdoor dining table and chairs & a mature garden border. There is off road parking for two/three cars next to your cottage. Guests have full use of all the site's shared grounds and amenities.
Additional Information: An initial basket of logs for the wood burner is provided with more available to purchase locally. All utilities, WiFi, sheets and bath towels are provided. A travel cot (no bedding) and stairgate are available on request. Short breaks are possible. Smoking is not permitted indoors. 1 Dog Allowed.
All of our facilities are open all year round. We are located in central England so perfect for groups to get together. There is lots to do locally with our local charming town of Whitchurch filled with cafes, bars and restaurants. Many local attractions from Chester Zoo, Bewilderwood, Park hall Farm and Hawkstone Follies to RAF Cosford and National trust houses.
