Swallow Lodge is a rural idyll where couples, families or friends can stay in luxury and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The cottage is on a family-run farm close to Priest Weston and a mile from the friendly Miners Arms pub. There are plenty of places to book-up and go horse riding to enjoy the fantastic byways and bridleways which make Shropshire a favourite in equestrian circles. After a full day of walking, cycling, horse riding and sightseeing, guests can settle back in their hot tub under the stars. Bliss!
The Shropshire Hills are breathtaking in every season, which means that it's always the perfect time to visit. One of the simplest ways to enjoy the views is by making use of the extensive network of footpaths that lead to places like Long Mynd, Corndon Hill, Lan Fawr, and the ancient stone circle at Mitchell's Fold. Being close to the border affords walkers far-reaching views over Offa's Dyke and into Wales, especially from the Stiperstones which also overlooks the Malvern Hills. The Malverns are very popular with mountain bikers, and there are excellent trails to suit all abilities there, as well as closer to the cottage at Church Stretton.
Days out can consist of admiring the historic black and white timber-framed buildings in Ludlow. Although several centuries old, they are modern in comparison to Ludlow Castle and walking around town and through the market is a pleasure, as is eating at one of Ludlow's fantastic cafes, pubs and restaurants. Montgomery is another charming market town, and Shrewsbury is always worth a visit. Local attractions include the Iron Bridge Gorge Museums, Powys Castle, and the Hawkstone Park Follies. You'll undoubtedly relax during your stay at Swallow Lodge, but you won't be bored.
Swallow Lodge is one of two self-catering cottages on site. Each is finished and furnished to the same high standard and can be booked on their own or with the other property to accommodate extended families or friends. Please see the owner's website for more information.
After the initial four steps to reach the door, accommodation at Swallow Lodge is all on one level.
Outside: A private wooden deck wraps around two sides of the lodge to make the most of the incredible views. The deck has an outdoor hot tub and garden furniture. A fantastic hand crafted BBQ hut is the icing on the cake. Seating 15 people and with a central BBQ grill, fitted table and twinking fairy lights, it is perfect for relaxed evenings at any time of the year. Fishing and tennis can be arranged with the owner.
Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, bed linen and bath towels are provided. A travel cot (no bedding) is available - please request this when booking. The owner regrets that no pets are allowed as the lodge is on a working farm. Smoking is not permitted.
