In the Hills is a perfect name for this rural self-catering cottage which is ideal for couples but has a double sofa bed in the living room to accommodate one or two more people. It is sheltered by Cordon Hill with views stretching over the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and across the border into Wales. Picture yourself walking or cycling through the scenic countryside around the hamlet of Priest Weston, strolling to the welcoming family-run Miner's Arms pub for a pint and a homemade pizza. Shropshire is a stunning location in all seasons. The cottage is available for holiday bookings all year round, so you always have the opportunity for a relaxing self-catering escape.
No one would blame you for settling back to gaze at the ever-changing views of field and hills, lighting the log burner if it's chilly or sitting on the deck in the sunshine. However, it would be a crying shame to miss some of the attractions that make the Shropshire Hills a popular destination for a walking or cycling holiday. Leave the car and head for the Mitchells Fold Stone Circle, continuing to Llan Fawr, Cordon Hill and the Bronze Age burial cairns. Roundton Hill Nature Reserve is also within walking distance. Add Stiperstones, Long Mynd, and Offa's Dyke to your itinerary if you're happy to travel a little further.
Spend a day exploring Shrewsbury, just half an hour's drive from the cottage with a wide array of places to eat, drink, and shop. Visit the castle and abbey, the unusual circular church of St Chad, and wander beside the River Severn. Ironbridge Gorge is another top choice for a day out, with multiple museums, beautiful riverside walks, a quirky independent bookshop, and lovely places to eat. Take the short detour to Buildwas Abbey on your way, adding Wenlock Priory to your itinerary if you have time. Montgomery, Bishops Castle, Ludlow and Welshpool are other places to see, each with a unique charm and character. You can take a ride on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, admire Powys Castle, and shop at the Kerry Vale Vineyard cellar door. You don't have to be a lover of the great outdoors to enjoy a fantastic time during your stay at In the Hills.
