James' Parlour is a fantastic self-catering property located at Alkington Grange Barns, where facilities include an indoor swimming pool, sports area, and a special play area for toddlers. The location is scenic and rural, with easy access to beautiful walks and bike rides. James' Parlour is the largest of the five cottages, sleeping up to 12 people in five bedrooms. It's the perfect choice for families, extended families and friends to spend time together or to come and celebrate a special occasion.
This area offers excellent local attractions that will appeal to all ages and group sizes, from choosing from 200 flavours of ice cream at The Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, to tree top walk ways, tree houses and incredible slides at the UK renowned Bewilderwood. Chester Zoo, Park Hall Farm, The Crocky Trail, Hawkstone Follies are on your doorstep along with the fantastic Aqua Park at Alderford Lake.
If you are looking for group activities then there is Pottery Parties at Doodle Alley, Jayne Rozario Jewellery Parties, on site Pamper Lady and access to a Chef who can cook for you. Why not have an Afternoon Tea or cold Buffet delivered to your door!
For quieter days out local attractions include National Trust properties such as Erddig Hall, Attingham Park, and the Roman ruins at Wroxeter. The Royal Air Force Museum in Cosford and the Secret Nuclear Bunker at Hack Green will both appeal to military buffs along with Shrewsbury Prison for an excellent experience! Alton Towers is slightly further afield but still within reach for a fun day out, as is the historic city of Liverpool. There are three UNESCO World Heritage Sites within an hour's drive of Alkington Grange Barns, so plan a visit to Ironbridge Gorge, Liverpool's Maritime Mercantile City, or the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal. Other places for a day trip include Chester, Whittington Castle and Beeston Castle.
When we say there are great walks from the door, we're not lying. The long-distance Shropshire Way passes through the farm's property on its 200-mile route, linking places that include Shrewsbury, Bishop's Castle, Ludlow, Iron-Bridge, Wellington and Much Wenlock. Other local footpaths include The Sandstone Trail, Llwybr Maelor Way, and South Cheshire Way. Just down the road is the Llangollen Canal which you can hop on and walk or cycle to Whitchurch and Grindley Brook, four miles north of the farm.
The onsite facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a multipurpose sports court with markings for tennis and football, a playground especially for toddlers and young children, a picnic site, BBQ's, Bike store and a wildlife area.

Outside: In addition to the shared facilities, James' Barn has an enclosed garden with a flat area of lawn for playing games, and a patio with seating and dining furniture for barbecues and outdoor meals. There is off-street parking for four cars.
Additional Information: All utilities, WiFi, sheets and bath towels are provided. Short breaks are available. Travel cots (no bedding) and highchairs are available on request. Pets are not allowed in James' Barn but there are pet-friendly cottages on site. Smoking is not permitted indoors.
