Red Fox Cottage is a beautiful coastal holiday home in Lucker. Anyone thinking about a self-catering holiday in Northumberland will love this property, which has three bedrooms and three bathrooms and an ideal layout for friends or families, including those with dogs. Accommodation is entirely on the ground floor with decor designed to feel welcoming and comfortable in all seasons. It's a fantastic choice for walking, cycling, golf, and sightseeing. There's even a beauty spa and an award-winning dog-friendly gastro pub, The Apple Inn, within strolling distance. As well as the high standard of accommodation, guests rave about the scenic location close to beaches and convenient for places like Bamburgh and Lindisfarne.
Lucker is less than four miles from Bamburgh, between the coast and the breathtaking Northumberland National Park. However you prefer to relax, you'll find plenty of opportunities to do it here. The Northumberland Coast Path follows 62 miles of incredible scenery between Berwick-on-Tweed to Cresswell, and cyclists can explore via the Coast and Castles Cycle Route. It's possible to cycle over Lindisfarne Causeway to Holy Island, and there's also a route next to Hadrian's famous wall for inland exploration.
Everything in the Northumberland landscape feels larger than average. White sandy beaches stretch uninterrupted for miles under enormous skies. Towering castles and fortified buildings dominate ancient towns and pay testament to a time when the border between England and Scotland shifted north or south every generation or two. Local attractions include Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home to the Percy family for centuries and the backdrop for favourite films and TV series like Harry Potter and Blackadder. The site of Bamburgh Castle has been occupied for around 10,000 years, though the current castle is relatively modern, dating from the 1100s and owned by the Armstrong family since 1894. Kielder Water and Forest Park is ideal for walking and family-friendly cycling. Guests can book a sightseeing boat tour to the Farne Islands from nearby Seahouses, where it's also possible to surf and SUP.
You'll love staying at Red Fox Cottage at Stablewood Coastal Cottages, where the owner has a collection of beautifully decorated and highly comfortable holiday cottages in Lucker. Red Fox Cottage is next to Roe Deer Cottage, and you can book the two together to accommodate up to 12 people.
