Swan Bay Sea View Apartment is almost like having two holidays in one. Not only does the beautiful first-floor apartment have fantastic sea views towards Lindisfarne, but it also has a private summer room and games room within a few metres of the calm water of Budle Bay. The property is in a former maltings that has been sympathetically converted to sleep up to six people in three bedrooms, with a layout that makes it as comfortable for couples as it is for families or friends. There is a restaurant less than 200 metres from the door if you do not feel like cooking, and an elevator for those who prefer to avoid stairs.
Budle Bay is little-known beauty sport just over a mile from Bamburgh on the Northumberland Coast, and part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve. At Swan Bay, you can fall asleep to the tranquil sounds of the river and wake to the gentle chattering of native birds. Being so close to Bamburgh puts you close to cafes, pubs, shops and other amenities. It is difficult to imagine, given its serene setting, but Budle Bay was once a lively medieval port. Rising silt made it unusable for boats and a haven for birds, and it is now a favourite spot for bird watchers and nature lovers.
The walk from Budle Bay to Bamburgh is breathtaking, with expansive "big sky" views that will astound you with their beauty. The walk is easiest at low tide when you can walk from Budle Point around to Bamburgh and stand in awe at the magnificent castle whose extensive history has made it one of Northumberland's favourite attractions. Bamburgh beach is a fantastic choice for a day out. It is a good surfing beach with rock pools at the northern end and dunes that are a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the wide variety of flora, fauna and insects that live there.
The Farne Islands are another fantastic destination for a day out, not only to see the resident seals and puffins but also for their history. You can take a boat trip from Bamburgh or nearby Seahouses to the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne, the latter of which is also called Holy Island in reference to its status as the origin of Christianity in the British Isles. Other activities include horseriding along the beach or playing 18-holes at a seaside golf course.
The owners of Swan Bay Sea View Apartment have made it easy for guests to relax and have fun. Not only is the apartment furnished to a high standard but guests also have access to the facilities of a nearby health spa, which include an indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Jetty Cottage is by the shore of Budle Bay and includes outdoor furniture and a barbecue for lazy days by the water, as well as a games room to keep the kids occupied in wet weather.
