Driftwood is as pretty as a picture. Located in the lovely fishing village of Craster on the Northumberland Coast, the period holiday cottage is within hearing distance of the beach and harbour and mere moments from The Jolly Fisherman Inn. Drfitwood sleeps four people in two bedrooms, one ensuite, and suits couples, families and friends. Sitting on the porch looking down to the harbour makes it an excellent summer escape, while the thick stone walls and original fireplace make it a cosy and welcoming retreat in autumn and winter. Bring your binoculars and walking shoes to make the most of the sights of the Northumberland Coast.
Craster is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, midway between Bamburgh and Alnmouth. It's a traditional fishing village with a busy harbour and one of England's last smokehouses producing smoked kippers. Anglers will love the plentiful beach and sea fishing opportunities, with the potential to book a boat trip from the harbour in the summer. If you love sightseeing boat trips, sea birds or beautiful views, a trip from Seahouses to the Farne Islands and Lindisfarne to marvel at the magnitude of the wildlife that flourishes in the protected environment. Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, can be reached via a causeway at low tide.
Northumberland's borders have shifted over the centuries, the result of fighting between the Scots and the English. The legacy of years of strife is evident in stones and mortar, in the towering might of Bamburgh and Alnwick castles, and in the romantic ruins of Dunstanbugh Castle, which is just over a mile from Driftwood. Guests can go surfing, golfing, birdwatching and horseriding. Walk the Northumberland Coast Path and visit the gardens and arboretum at Howick Hall. Hadrian's Wall and the Scottish border are under an hour's drive, giving even more options for things to do.
Whether sunning yourself in summer or enjoying the empty windswept beaches in winter, Driftwood is a place you can comfortably visit in all seasons.
