Tern Cottage Is a characterful old fisherman’s cottage in Seahouses on the Northumbrian coast. It is only metres from the harbour, coastal footpath, local amenities and friendly Ye Olde Ship Inn. Sleeping four guests in two bedrooms, ideal for couples, families and friends, and its dog friendly too. Having undergone a sympathetic refurbishment by the new owners in 2018, the cottage offers cosy and welcoming accommodation with parking for two cars.
Seahouses is a picturesque village in the Northumberland Coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), with lots to see and do whatever the weather. Seahouses is the gateway to the Farne Islands with regular boat trips leaving from the harbour to watch seals, puffins, guillemots or simply appreciate the wealth of flora and fauna that flourish in these gorgeous natural surroundings. The town has a good variety of amenities including a small supermarket, shops, restaurants and takeaways. The Bamburgh Castle Inn is well positioned for a harbour view whilst dinning or enjoying a drink.
It’s only a three mile walk along the coastal path or a short drive north from Seahouses to the village of Bamburgh with friendly pubs and a magnificent stretch of beach. The infamous Bamburgh Castle offers spectacular views of one of the most well-known areas in Northumberland.
Further scenic villages such as Beadnell, Embleton, Newton by the Sea, Craster and Howick are all delightful villages along the coastal path. If desired they can all be reached on foot from the door step of the cottage, with excellent pubs and cafes along the way.
Northumberland has more castles than any other county in the UK and with impressive family homes such as Alnwick Castle a short drive away you can enjoy the rich history on offer, or why not try Floors Castle, Belsay Hall and Chillingham Castle to name a few? Alternatively enjoy a quiet browse around Barter Books at the old Alnwick train station, a huge second hand book store with open fires, welcoming arm chairs and café.
The owners of Tern Cottage have done a fantastic job of making the former fisherman's cottage feel welcoming and friendly, with contemporary touches and high-quality furnishings that appeal to all tastes and ages. Whether your perfect holiday involves wildlife and bird watching, coastal and countryside walks, historic houses and gardens, great food or relaxing in front of a stunning view, it's all here and waiting for you.
