The Old Corn Crush sleeps up to six people in three bedrooms, providing very comfortable accommodation for families in a rural location close to gorgeous Northumberland beaches. Whether you're coming from abroad or enjoying a British self-catering staycation, this beautiful holiday home has been lovingly renovated by the owner and decorated to complement the coastal surroundings. The house is in Togston, less than a mile from Amble Links Beach, in the perfect location for exploring Northumberland's countryside, coast and castles.
Amble has two beaches. Little Shore is a sandy beach between the promenade and the pier. It's suitable for swimming, with the best times being the two hours on either side of high tide. Amble Links is longer, with views towards Coquet Island lighthouse. It's a beautiful choice for a walk, particularly if you include Pan Poing and Wellhaugh Point. Whatever your preferred way to enjoy the seaside, you'll find it here. Run or cycle along the traffic-free path between Alnwick and Warkworth, book lessons at the local surf school, or hire a kayak or a SUP and brush up on your skills. Walk along the beach to Cresswell Bay via Druridge Bay and Hauxley.
Local attractions include Alnwick Castle, better known to fans of the Harry Potter films as Hogwarts. Celebrate a special occasion at the Alnwick Treehouse restaurant or wander through its gardens. Warkworth Castle is nearby, while Dunstaburgh Castle and Bamburgh Castle are 14 miles and 24 miles respectively. Nature lovers can book a sightseeing boat trip around Lindisfarne to see the sea birds and grey seals, go to Coquet Island, or sit by the mouth of Amble Harbour for the chance to see seals and dolphins. York, Durham, Newcastle, Berwick upon-Tweed and Edinburgh are close enough for a day trip by train from Alnmouth.
The Old Corn Crush is an old farm building with rustic features and very comfortable furnishings. Guests love the location and all the special touches like the high-quality bedding, delicious welcome basket stocked with local goodies, and the practical features that include a large utility room with space to dry wetsuits, coats and walking boots.
