Button Cottage is as sweet as its name suggests and just the place for a romantic escape to the Northumberland coast. The Victorian cottage is in the peaceful village of Beadnell and has been carefully updated to provide a high standard of accommodation for contemporary couples without losing any of its period warmth and charm. The beach, village shop and cafe are within walking distance as are the Towers pub and Craster Arms (both dog-friendly) so you have the option of going out for a drink or meal if you do not want to cook.
Beadnell is a lovely village with a curved bay that is protected by dunes. Its calm waters make it ideal not only for swimming but also for water sports such as paddle boarding. Northumberland beaches rarely feel busy, and it is possible to walk for miles and barely see another soul, particularly outside of the school holiday season. An excellent way to spend a relaxing day is to walk along the coast to nearby Seahouses and enjoy a delicious pub lunch and a pint of real ale, or fish and chips on the beach before taking a short taxi ride home if you do not want to walk back to your holiday home.
Button Cottage is ideally located for exploring this beautiful corner of Britain. The Northumberland Coast Path stretches for more than 60 miles between Berwick and Creswell and is mostly in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Just five miles north of Beadnell, Bamburgh Castle stands proudly above the beach and the village, offering magnificent views towards the Farne Islands. You can take a boat trip from either Bamburgh or Seahouses to see the puffins and seals who reside on the islands, as well as to Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island and reputed to be the birthplace of Christianity in Britain.
After a relaxing day experiencing the natural beauty and charm of the Northumberland Coast, you will be delighted to return to your welcoming holiday cottage. Thick stone walls, elegantly comfortable furnishings and a log burner ensure it is cosy and welcoming in any weather, while a south-facing verandah makes the most of long balmy summer evenings. The owners of Button Cottage have created a place where you can escape from the stress and drama of day-to-day life and focus instead on reconnecting and spending time with your favourite person.
