Teal House comfortably sleeps up to eight guests in four bedrooms and is a popular choice for large families and friends who want to holiday or just get away for a few nights together. Located in oldest part of the Dorset coastal town of Lyme Regis, guests can enjoy an excellent range of amenities close to hand including cafes, shops for provisions and pubs within walking distance like the Pilot Boat and Ship Inn. The house is just a short level walk to the sea allowing guests to enjoy an hour or two on the beach whenever their heart desires; or relax in the large sunny garden over a long lazy alfresco lunch with glimpses of the sea.
Holiday makers have been coming to Lyme Regis for centuries. Known as "The Pearl of Dorset", this coastal gem of a holiday destination has plenty to offer visitors all year round. It is one of the best places for fossil hunting on the entire Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Whether you fossick on your own or book onto one of the local guided fossil walks with a local expert through the Lyme Regis Museum, fossil hunting is a must. Front Beach is incredibly family-friendly with golden sands and lifeguards during the summer months. Monmouth Beach is also popular with a mix of sand and shingle and an enormous slab of limestone with lots of ammonites to add to the interest. In fact Monmouth Beach is the very place where the first complete Ichthyosaur and Plesiosaur skeletons were found back in the 1800s by Mary Anning so keep your eyes scanned!
The Cobb (Lyme Regis Harbour) is a lovely spot to relax and soak up the seaside vibe whilst watching the boats bobbing up and down on the water. Stroll along the Victoria Pier to The Marine Aquarium, take the kids to Dinosaurland (just steps from Teal House), browse the boutiques and independent shops for holiday gifts or visit the Philpot Museum - there are plenty of things to occupy everyone without the need to use the car.
For those happy to explore further afield, Dorset offers an abundance of attractions for day trips out. Head to the English Riviera and discover the delights of this beautiful stretch of coast between Torquay and Brixham, taking in Paignton and attractions like Kents Caven Prehistoric Caves, Paignton Zoo and Babbacombe Model Village. Lace up your walking boots and explore the South West Coastal Path or hire a bike, or paddle-board if water is more your thing.
With a choice of excellent restaurants and takeaway within strolling distance and superb self-catering facilities at Teal House, you have all your options open for a relaxing holiday by the sea.
