Dolphin Cottage is a fantastic waterfront holiday home in historic Lyme Regis. Located on Marine Drive, it faces the sandy beach, just steps away from the door. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom Grade-II listed property sleeps four people beneath its thatched roof, with couples and families enjoying incredible views from the private terrace, bay window in the living room, and the main bedroom. Shops, bars, restaurants and friendly pubs like the seaside Rock Point Inn are 100 yards from your door. Holiday cottages with a proper beachside location are difficult to find, making this gem even more treasured.
Don't be surprised if you see your holiday home on a postcard in the gift shop! Dolphin Cottage has been part of the scenery since 1800, inspiring artists and photographers. The house was only a few years old when Jane Austen walked past it during her stay in town in 1803 and 1804. The cottage is near The Cobb, famously used for a dramatic scene in Austen's novel, Persuasion. Austen fans should also admire the Jane Austen Garden on Marine Parade and the collection of Austen-related items in the museum.
Lyme Regis is a thriving seaside town with lots to offer visitors in all seasons. The Jurassic Coast is rich with fossils. Learn more about these through the astounding collection in the local museum, and book a guided fossil tour to find your own treasures. Children love the opportunity to go crabbing off the harbour walls, play minigolf, poke around in the rockpools, and play in the park. Go swimming, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, or fishing for mackerel. The South West Coast Path passes your front door, leading to more spectacular views. Adventurous visitors will love a sightseeing RIB tour. Other local attractions include the Lyme Regis Museum, Town Mill, and the Marine Theatre. You're within easy reach of Exeter and Weymouth for days out, but you could easily stay a week in Lyme Regis and be completely content.
The owners welcome holiday bookings all year round, with short breaks possible outside of the summer and school holidays.
