Strongate Cottage offers a rural peaceful escape to the Country and is located at the bottom of a long winding lane with no passing traffic. The Cottage is full of character and charm, and located in the village of Salway Ash, a 10 minute drive north of Bridport. Situated in a beautiful rural setting on our small working farm it's a peaceful tranquil space, with a pretty garden, visiting birds, and spring water.
The Cottage is rated 4* by Visit England and sleeps 4 with two bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed, one with two singles. Upstairs you will also find the bathroom, with shower attachment. On the ground floor there is an open plan galley style kitchen with one step down to the comfy lounge. The pretty cottage garden leads directly from the lounge which is exclusively for your own use. Wooden garden furniture provided for relaxing. Feel free to walk around the farm where we have beef animals, sheep, ducks, geese, and chickens. Perfect space for couples, or families, all year round.
We are located within Dorset's Natural Landscape and the vibrant market town of Bridport, with it's twice weekly street market and antiques quarter is a 10 minute drive away. The Jurassic Coastline and harbour of West Bay is just beyond Bridport and our nearest beach along with Eype, a more secluded . The coastal village of Charmouth, perfect for fossil hunting, is about a 20 minute drive away and Lyme Regis, famous as the birthplace of Mary Anning, one of history's most important fossil collectors and palaeontologists. Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens and Swannery can be found a short drive away along the Jurassic coastline.
Within a mile of the Cottage we have both Furleigh Estate Vineyard and Dorset Nectar Cider, both have tasting rooms and are well worth a visit. Bridport is surrounded by charming villages, with country pubs, and both countryside and coastal walks. If you wish to travel further afield you will find Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door, one of Dorset's most famous landmarks which is under an hour away by car. The popular natural wonder is a highlight of the Jurassic Coastline. Sandbanks, near Poole, is home to the iconic Sandbanks Beach with soft golden sand, crystal clear waters. Closer to home you will find Weymouth & Portland.

We welcome dogs (up to two per stay, depending on breed and size) for an additional £20 per dog. A travel cot and highchair are available on request. The property benefits from reliable WiFi, though mobile phone signal may vary depending on your network provider. No smoking is permitted, and we regret that BBQs are not allowed due to the thatched roof. The property is supplied with spring water
