Frog by the Sea is a dreamy cottage on the Jurassic Coast, boasting incredible sea views, a hot tub, three beautiful ensuite bedrooms and luxurious touches at every turn. The interior of the property complements the fantastic surroundings which make Dorset one of Britains' favourite holiday destinations. The 17th Century cottage is ideal for families and friends, and because it's pet friendly, no one needs to stay at home. Chideock village (one mile) which has a well-stocked grocery shop and two superb pubs, The George and the Clock Inn, so there's no pressure to cook if you don't feel like it.
Chideock is postcard-perfect, with thatched cottages flanked by dramatic Jurassic hills that are unique to this part of Dorset. It's an excellent spot for a pint (beer or milk, take your pick!), although guests may prefer to go to the nearby market town of Bridport, two miles from the cottage, to shop at the regular markets that run every Wednesday and Saturday, or the monthly antique and farmers' market. Bridport also has a choice of supermarkets (including Waitrose), a theatre cum cinema, and a variety of independently run quality shops, cafes and pubs. It's a lively hub frequented by locals and visitors alike, and an excellent place to happily spend a few hours' browsing.
Frog by the Sea Cottage is nested at the heart of 80 acres of countryside in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), at the end of a private drive, and surrounded by the beautiful Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are gorgeous long walks from the door, including to the highest point on the South Coast, Golden Cap, Langdon woods and Seatown beach. Footpaths from the cottage lead to the South West Coast Path.
Eight miles from the cottage, is the charming seaside town of Lyme Regis, known as “the Pearl of Dorset” with its world famous Cobb and fossil hunting. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery, Lyme Regis has been a firm favourite with holiday makers over the centuries. Its narrow little streets, attractive Georgian architecture, bustling harbour with boat and fishing trips and gently sloping sandy beach where you can hire kayaks and paddle boards, add to the charm of this magical seaside town. The many places to eat and drink and natural beauty of the setting make Lyme Regis a firm favourite with guests.
Charmouth Beach (5 miles) is famous for fossil hunting, with the Fossil Heritage Center and guided Fossil tours. Popular with families due to the vast beach and gently sloping shores. Seatown Beach is also a favourite for finding fossils and is under two miles by road from the cottage (or walkable across the footpaths from the cottage) if you want to work up an appetite for lunch at the award-winning Anchor pub with a glorious Beer garden right above the beach. Other local beaches are West Bay(which was the key filming location for ITV's Broadchurch) and is very popular for Fishing and Boat trips or harbourside crabbing for children, Eype, Chesil Beach, and Hive Beach (with the incredible Hive Beach Café).
Guest attractions include nearby iconic Colmers Hill at Symondsbury, the swannery sub-tropical gardens and children’s farm in Abbotsbury, Aquarium in Lyme Regis, the Dinosaur Museum, Monkey World, Weymouth SEA LIFE center and Northe Forte, Portland lighthouse, the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, and the Tank Museum in Bovington. The iconic Durdle door and Lulworth Cove are iconic sights and are on the must see list for many guests. National Trust houses and gardens, wonderful walking on the Jurassic coast and plenty of superb restaurants where creative award winning chefs serve delicious meals using seasonal produce, including River Cottage of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall fame make this area a year round popular destination.
