Poldowrian is a farm on the coast of the Lizard Peninsula in South Cornwall: the farmhouse is one of three houses there. It has recently been renovated and redecorated throughout. It is quite remote – half a mile from the nearest house; 4 miles from the nearest villages; 20 minutes by car to the nearest town (Helston).
It’s about 100 yards to the spectacular cliffs and the South West Coast Path. Kennack Sands is a 20-minute walk away. There are other beaches nearer, but it’s more of a scramble to get down there.
There are lots of interesting places to visit: Roskilly’s farm; the Minack theatre; archaeological sites; the Helford River; the Gweek seal sanctuary; numerous pubs and other eating places. And no end of places to walk or swim.

The farmhouse has an extensive garden complete with picnic table and Wendy house. Guests can also wander in the unique and wonderful Woodland Garden, lovingly created by Valerie and Peter Hadley over half a century from 1965, and now assiduously looked after by Bill Penman. From here you can get on to the South West Coast Path, which leads (westward) to Kennack Sands, and beyond to the villages of Cadgwith and Landewednack, via the Devil's Frying Pan; or (eastward) to Lankidden Point, where you can sit and gaze at the crashing waves; then onwards to Black Head, with its views of the dreaded Manacles; and the attractive fishing village of Coverack, where you can eat and drink at the Paris Hotel; buy local gifts at the Seine Loft and the Old Mill Shop; get good fish and chips at the Old Lifeboat Station, enjoy Roskilly's ice creams at Archie's Loft; and stock up at the excellent village stores.
Inside, there is room for up to 10 people (of whom 8 can be teenagers or adults). Upstairs are two large bedrooms, each sleeping up to 4 people, as well as a shower room with WC and basin.
Downstairs is a bedroom that sleeps two; a bathroom with bath, shower, WC and basin; a very well-equipped kitchen, with fridge/freezer and dishwasher (plus washing machine and tumble drier in the porch.) The dining room will seat 8 people comfortably, or 10 at a pinch. The sitting room has books, games, a smart TV, a wood-burning stove, and a piano. There is good WiFi throughout. The house will accommodate as many as 8 adults and 2 children, but is not too big for just two or three (or even one) to feel at home.
