Steeped in centuries of Cornish history, The Farmhouse is a beautifully restored traditional longhouse, now transformed into an impressive countryside retreat where original character meets relaxed modern luxury.
Once a working Cornish longhouse, with livestock housed below to provide warmth to the farmers living above, the property has been thoughtfully reimagined for contemporary living while retaining the sense of history that makes it so special. Today, it offers wonderfully generous spaces designed for families and groups to come together, unwind and enjoy the very best of Cornwall.
Set amid rolling countryside on a peaceful former farm, The Farmhouse feels wonderfully secluded, with far-reaching rural views and only a handful of neighbouring properties. Yet the coast is remarkably close. Watergate Bay, Porth and Whipsiderry Beach are all around a five-minute drive away, while Newquay and Cornwall Airport are also within easy reach.
Outside, a large south-facing garden makes the most of the peaceful setting. Long lunches can be enjoyed around the outdoor dining table, evenings spent relaxing on the comfortable lounge furniture or around the barbecue, and days finished with a soak in the private hot tub or a session in the sauna. The expansive lawn gives children and dogs plenty of room to run and play.
The real heart of the house is its spectacular 50-foot open-plan living space. Four-metre bi-fold doors open directly onto the garden and frame beautiful views across Porth Valley, flooding the room with light and creating an effortless connection between indoors and out. There’s ample room for everyone to gather, whether cooking, dining or simply settling in with a glass of wine.
The generous kitchen is designed with larger groups in mind, with a double oven, five-ring induction hob and everything needed for relaxed breakfasts through to celebratory dinners. A separate utility room with washing machine, tumble dryer and shower, along with a downstairs cloakroom, makes longer family stays wonderfully easy.
When it’s time to retreat, the separate cinema snug is made for cosy evenings, with two comfortable sofas, a large flatscreen TV, fibre broadband and the full Sky package — perfect for films, sport or keeping younger guests entertained.
Upstairs, all five bedrooms have their own luxurious en-suite bathrooms, giving every guest their own private space. The showstopper is the magnificent split-level master suite, complete with a freestanding copper bathtub positioned to take in the countryside views — a seriously special place to relax.
The remaining double and twin bedrooms are equally spacious and beautifully presented, with generous proportions and plenty of room for travel cots where required.
