Tremerth Cottage is a renovated barn on Castallack Farm near Mousehole in Cornwall. The gorgeous granite holiday cottage sleeps two people in one bedroom and is perfect for couples or individuals who want peace, quiet and plenty of space where they can escape for a fantastic holiday on the Cornish coast. The cottage is a wonderful mix of old and new, with stone walls and original beams blended with modern features and comfortable furnishings, resulting in a unique and welcoming retreat for guests all year round. Outside is every bit as appealing with a wild woodland garden with large fire pit and picnic table for relaxing and alfresco dining outside in the sunshine.
Castallack is a quiet rural hamlet surrounded by stunning views of the Cornish countryside. Although it feels remote, it's only a mile from Lamorna Cove and a mile and a half from the popular fishing village of Mousehole, putting guests within walking and cycling distance of beaches, cafes, shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as the famous South West Coast Path. There is a beach to suit every mood around here, whether you want great surfing conditions, smooth waters for kayaking or SUPing, or a private stretch of sand where you can settle down with a good book and snooze in the sunshine.
There's plenty to do away from the beach. Walking, cycling and mountain biking are popular all year round. There is a bridleway passing through the farm, and the National Cycle Route 3 goes past the gate. Some guests love to cycle to Lands End and The Lizard, while others head inland on foot or their bikes to explore the Cornish Mining landscape. Horse riding and golf are also easily accessible.
St Ives has a thriving community of artists, fantastic galleries and a great choice of places to eat, drink and shop. Check out the outdoor Minack Theatre calendar before you arrive to see if there are any performances you want to watch during your stay. When the tide is out, you can walk across the causeway to St Michael's Mount, though there is also a ferry if you don't want to risk getting cut off by the tide. A boat trip into Mount Bay is also an excellent way to see sea birds, dolphins and whales that live in the waters off the coast.
The owners of Castallack Farm have another cottage on their 35-acre smallholding, where they keep sheep, pigs, horses, geese, chickens, dogs, cats and a llama. Depending on availability, you can book the cottages together to accommodate extended families or friends.
